Using cellular to download that light phase plan in participating areas isn't all that special a tech but regardless, the light assist has been out some time, it is not new. Like others, I turned mine off as I never encountered an intersection where the timer works and it's usually easier to see the light itself compared to looking down at the screen.
"Traffic Light assist" uses special technology to tell you how long until the light turns green. It is not available in every jurisdiction. For example the traffic lights in Greensboro have the technology but not in Charlotte.
It's been offline for like 9 months. I had it working when I first got the car here in NYC and then one day, poof, its gone along with the countdown. I figured whoever they were using must have got rid of the service but my brother in laws new RS6 is supposed to have this enabled with audi connect. I'm curios if it works in there or maybe they did away with this all together. Personally I really liked having it as I always knew how much time I had left before the light changed
After waiting about an hour - I returned to my car and found that the update was ready to install. I clicked through the instructions and then clicked and held the Install button for 3 seconds. It had me exit the car and lock the doors from the outside. It took about 10 minutes for the install to complete. MBUX turned on, I checked the status of the update in the MercedesMe Connect app; it said the install completed successfully. I got back in the car and the display also confirmed it installed correctly.
I don't have time to check out the new features, but I'm hopeful it will be more responsive,
especially in navigation.
have you had chance to see what has been change after software update ? How about adding features like self auto change , transparent hood or memory parking assist ?

I spent quite a bit of time driving my car this past weekend - but to be honest, the update seems like a bit of a snooze. As for your specific questions: I'm not certain what self auto change is?? - Don't have Transparent Hood, but I suspect the needed cameras aren't there to allow for that on an S580 - but hope I'm wrong, as that would be a very helpful feature especially when pulling up to a parking block in a parking lot, and for Memory Parking Assist - again, i'm not certain what that is - so I'm not sure.
I did turn on the NewsFlash feature in the services section of the MercedesMeConnect app but haven't had a chance to play with it yet. As others have mentioned, I don't have the Traffic Light countdown timer. I can't seem to find the ZYNC app anywhere - possibly because it isn't available for the S580, or I don't have the package that allows it installed in my car. My Online Apple Music does seem to sound better with the Dolby Atmos, but that could be because I want it to sound better, and my ears are simply hearing something that's not really there. But my navigation responsiveness does seem to be improved.
With all that said, I did a factory reset of my system this weekend to see what that experience was like and to hopefully speed up the overall performance of MBUX. Geezus - that was painful. Calling MBUSA support and MercedesMeConnect support was useless. It took the better part of a day to get my profile synced back to my car. And by the way, whatever you do, do NOT remove your vehicle from the mobile app. Doing so will cancel your TollService with Payviam and remove your car from their service. I'm still in the process of trying to get them to reinstate my service without having to pay another $70 initiation fee. As others have mentioned on this forum, I knew factory resetting the system would wipe out my radio favorites, seat location memory, ambient light settings, home and work locations, any saved navigation favorites, etc., but I will say it did speed up the overall performance of the system. If you don't have the Payviam toll service in your car, and have the patience to go through the setup, then it might be worth the effort. Just pack a lot of patience, and don't bother calling MBUSA for support.

thanks for the update, as far as self-auto lane change, Transparent Hood, and Memory Parking Assist I know those are available in newer EQS/EQE and some of C class cars but not sure if S class can have those!
Transparent Hood:
where do see that as a paid feature ? And how can be added ?
It's usually included as standard in the higher-end trim packages with the surround view system. Not sure how it can be activated, maybe the Mercedes me Store.

it’s not paid feature - it’s part of off road feature and as long as the feature is activated it should be there with latest update
I can’t get my 2022 S580 to upgrade either. My software revision is RL_NTG7_E250.503_21451AC3. I tried a system reset this evening to see if I could spur an update, but nothing doing. Anything else I can do to try and force an update, or do I have to have a visit with the dealer?
I'm not aware of a way to force the update. Calling MB Customer Support won't help either. Sadly, a trip to the dealer might be the only way. If you have a good relationship with your Service Advisor, you might call or text with him/her ahead of time to make certain they can install the update manually before taking your car in.

Not sure why it isnt working on our S580 as its working fine on my RS7. I am going to look into this. I remember it was showing the countdown for a year after getting the car but nothing now. Are we supposed to be paying for this subscription on mercedesme?

I can confirm the traffic light countdown feature has been discontinued.
Interesting! Cannot believe Mercedes did this when Audi has been using it for few years no issues.
Here is the official word from a Mercedes news bulletin: Traffic Light Information (Red light countdown) reveals a countdown timer for certain connected traffic lights on your route. Traffic Light Information will be sundowned beginning with MY23 and newer vehicles equipped with Navigation Services. For vehicles with active Mercedes me Connect subscriptions with activated Traffic Light Information, service will remain active until the expiration of their subscription.

Thank you for this information. I wont even bother taking this car in and telling them about this issue. Its so much fun driving the RS7 knowing if I can make the next light or beat it
