Yep, I am with AutoNation so I can get the CPO extended for cost which is great! I hope to keep this car for 5+ years and probably will if it proves to be as good as you guys are experiencing. If it is a problem child, I would probably get rid of it but I have some time before I need to make that decision. As it is, it has an additional year of warranty under CPO and it is unlimited miles, which is good because I tend to pile the miles on.
Good to know on the other controls...I will probably keep the driver camera on but may turn off the passenger camera if that is possible so my wife doesn't activate anything with gestures...
You can bet I will be playing with the config a lot while at my daughters when she and the baby are asleep...
So glad to hear your 2,200 mile drive was amazing! I am sure our 1,154 mile trek home around the Gulf of Mexico will be wonderful in this machine as well!
You don't have to switch off the camera, you can just turn the assistant off; it's in the same location as the system/settings/assistance menu right above the camera on/off menu.
edit: You must scroll the right pane down when you get there.
Thanks, Steve. Between you and Wolfman's responses, feeling a LOT better. It does irk me to read 'Debbie-Downer' posts but all forms have them...every one I have been in. But very relieved to have knowledgeable guys counter with facts that as a noob, I wouldn't know straightaway.
That is a very interesting point you make about the Lexus vs MB extended warranty pricing. Very interesting. Also reassuring.
The reality is, MB has some quirks and reliability issues. There are issues with the 48v system, nobody would ever point to an S Class and say "man thats the most reliable car in the world!", but it is a great car, one of the greatest cars you can buy, and you take the good with the bad. Most people though don't have any problems, and the bulk of the issues we see here are 2021 models and some 22s, getting a 23 or 24 I personally would do that with no concern. Chassis clearly was burned at some point which sucks, but to continue to hang around a forum for a brand you no longer own and just troll everybody all the time is absurd, and other forums I post on he'd have been shown the door for doing that a long time ago.
I don’t think what Chassis does crosses the line. He's entitled to his opinion, good or bad, and if he wants to give advice to avoid MB, that’s certainly his prerogative. Whether he has an axe to grind or if he honestly feels like he’s doing a favor to prospective buyers and/or indirectly trying to send MB a message, so be it.
I hate the GLE—and by extension every other car that leaves the “I build cars blindfolded” Alabama factory—and will offer my opinion as such if given the opportunity. That car still owes me for all of the inconvenience and money lost.
The problem is there’s an axe to grind, he’s looking for problems and blowing them up (citing problems with engines a car doesn’t even have, etc). It’s relentlessly negative. We need to hear from people who actually have these cars.
You had a GLE…sharing your experience is your experience.
Great, thanks for the clarification, Ben. I played with the 'mood' thing and you're right, very gimmicky and I will never use that.
So, I locked in my purchase (thanks to all of your input and answering my questions) - getting this:
I wish it had the saddle or white interior, but that is a small sacrifice for the price I paid for this '23 CPO with 8k miles on it. Previous owner traded it on a Maybach that had the active ambient lighting - this one doesn't. To have that kind of $$ to trade for something like that! Oh well, his loss, my gain!
For those that care - here are the options (I know I will hear it about those 21s, but my Panamera had them and it was fine - and if it becomes a problem, I will put 20s on it...
