Question: Like all S580s mine has ambient lighting. It is a cool feature but not a big deal for me. I did notice however that all the images online of the S580 have a second ambient lighting strip on the top part of the dash and around the doors.
My car does not have that. I suppose it is an option (active?) or is mine just not working? Thanks.

Wow really? I've been in so many W223s recently, and never ever realized that the top LED would be missing if the car isn't equipped with the adaptive lighting!!!!

My 2022 S580 was delivered without the Active Ambient Lighting due to a parts shortage in summer/fall 2021.
This was due to shortage of equipment during the pandemic. Mine does not have it as well as front massaging seats. Mine is the S580 executive class long wheelbase. I was disappointed at first but now live with it. You can buy the retrofits on eBay however you’d better have an expert installation. This is my ride!
I talked to the service manager at the dealership down here yesterday. He was saying that it's not impossible to mount them in the right places to work, but it's very hard to figure out if the computer and wiring harness etc will work with it or not, until its done and they test it out.
This is a dealership price mind you, but he said the disassembly and replacement for those 5 light strips would run around 10k $. Which is obviously too much!
It is a great option when it works. I have it in mine and the color gets stuck on blue and won't change. I have taken it back to the dealer 5 times and they still can't get if fixed. Mercedes USA is no help either.
