S 580e Cancelled

Appears to only be the RWD version. Seems like the take rate is low, people either get the lower powered S450e or get 4Matic. Of course in the US we only get the 4Matic versions so no changes on this side of the pond.

So, move that to the S class and what it is. When we have a long trip we take the S. We do not want the disruption of charging, nor the theory of added and extended downtime of potential repairs. Yes, fuel is expensive...but, anyone who complains about the price of fuel and owns a boat needs to close their pie hole. So, most of us who are in an S do not care about the theory of fuel efficiency, and even less about some delusion about climate change - and, the majority of the EV's I know are are a third or fourth car and simply a toy.

See, I can drive fast and not kill my gas tank as fast as a battery dies. Few years ago we took a Model 2 from Orlando to Atlanta...had to stop twice (yes, we were driving hard).

This is the W223 forum and there are no W223 EVs. Only ICE (mild hybrids) or plug-in hybrids. All can handle long trips without a charging pause.

And I'm glad you can tell E Classes apart, I have a hard time telling any Mercedes sedan apart from a distance...
The RWD S580e was never offered here in the US, so the US offerings are not affected at all.
And the S580e is a good option for people who want EV driving in town but don't want to have to worry about charging on a trip, thats the whole point.

I'll tell you why I want an EV, the incredibly smooth and silent powertrain and the incredible straight line torque from the electric motors. The only disappointing part of driving the S580e is when the ICE I6 kicks on. Has nothing to do with the environment or the price of gas for me.
I have a plug in hybrid Chrysler Pacifica minivan that my wife drives, no joke when I go out on the weekends I drive it instead of the S560 because I love the EV powertrain. The fact that we fill it up every 2 months instead of once a week is just an added bonus.

Your opinion is valid, just present it like that instead of putting other people down for having a different opinion than you.

The S580e is identical in design to all other W223 S Classes.
Yep, what I want is the Tesla network for non Tesla cars, which is coming.

I hardly ever see an S580e on the road.
