Environmental impact

The most ridiculous thing about the new M5 Touring is its 5530 lbs curb weight owed to the battery pack that is installed to make it more environmentally passable coupled with the $2600 gas guzzler tax. It’s the worst oxymoron of the automotive present.

Yup the weight sure is a bummer.

The G90 M5, for being a porker, beat out the RS7 and E63 in a Throttle House drag race. However, I’m leaning heavily towards the 911 now. Just an absolutely fully loaded pure and simple 911 base.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Four Door GT 63 S E Performance 4MATIC+ in the same video still beat the m5 though.

Again, an odd thread. Discussing the new M5 Touring, RS6 and the 911 makes zero sense. Seems like listing all the cars you like disregarding how different the cars and use cases are.

Love the 992 911’s but they are also boring in a way. Dime a dozen on the street. Capable, yet clinical and less emotional to drive.
Then might as well throw in Aston’s, AMG GT’s, Lotus’ into the mix 😉

I ordered a 2025 RS6 a few months back and I just picked it up yesterday. It's currently at the shop for PPF and window tint. Ceramic brakes were a must and they thankfully came back for 2025. While I like the look of the new M5 touring, it will be interesting to see if traditional BMW enthusiasts accept this radical departure from previous generations.

Congratulations what a beautiful ride. I hope you will love it. The RS6 is so awesome. I almost considered one for myself but my wife does not like station wagons as much as I do. I remember one of our former neighbors (a car dealer specializing in used Audis) in Germany taking us to the airport in an RS2 wagon in the the mid 1990s.

Stunning car, color, and wheels.
Is there an all new version seen being tested for MY 26?

So since this may be my one and only Porsche, I may say screw it and get either a loaded 4S or 2WD GTS. I’m fortunate enough to be able to retire in a few years in my mid 50s and this car purchase will be my last while still employed. Anyone daily a powerful RWD car year round year round in a temperate but sometimes rainy environment?

I don't think Audi has formally announced a 2026 but it sounds like there my be a RS6 E-tron coming.

Thanks for heads up. Relevant article here:
https://www.carscoops.com/2024/01/ne...rifying-wagon/

So I haven't been in an Audi since I had my 2004 RS6. Is their E-tron platform just modified off of the ICE platforms or could I expect longer wheelbase, and thus more legroom/cargo in their EV vs ICE? I never test drove the RS6 when I was shopping for wagons a couple years ago but I ruled it out based on paper (smaller interior) vs the E-class, which then got ruled out vs the GLE 2nd row legroom I have now. I've always loved the estate rentals I've driven in Europe so I'm still hoping to move into one in the future and this E-tron RS6/A6 looks interesting. I'm hoping they will maximize the interior space.

Oh yeah, for decades. Doesn't require skill, you just have to avoid dumbassery.

Porsche has excellent nannies, but it is possible to drive through them with enough determination. Avoid the snow, it's possible, and guys like to brag about their snow experience, but wide sport tires will put you somewhere between slippery and treacherous.

The most common single car accident in a high horsepower rear-wheel drive car, occurs when making a left from a stop, such as at a stop sign of light. Too much throttle gets the rear coming around, and it's hard for the nannies to catch you in that circumstance, before your passenger side rear wheel smacks the curb. While seemingly minor, and it can be, it can also be surprisingly expensive if you take suspension damage. What isn't surprising is low traction conditions are often a contributing factor.

You will find you can brake well, know exactly where your wheels are, and can put the car just exactly so on the road. Combine that with a car that tends to bring out the inner hooligan, and a man can get overconfident. Remember dumbassery? Your driving on public roads, be careful.

Yeah, growing up I drove nothing but RWD cars like Mustangs and BMWs. I haven’t owned or driven one in decades it seems with the last being an e39 BMW I think. Every car I’ve owned since has been AWD and I kind of took that for granted.

As your life is flashing before your eyes on your deathbed, you're not going to remember a bathroom remodel, a day on a beautiful road in your 992 with your beloved spouse, might just make that reel.

Have your dream; everyone deserves to have their day in the sun.

From now on, the EV's will have even numbers while combustion-powered vehicles will use odd numbers. The "old RS6 Avant" will be the new RS7 Avant? More confusion from Germany.

Confusing indeed, nonetheless looks like a very nice ICE version is on the way...

I would bet a lot of money the next RS6/7 is a plug-in hybrid vis-a-vis the M5 and E53. The new Audi interior theme—with a bazillion screens—is tacky to me; it just doesn’t look aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. That was one big selling point of the current gen Audis: their clean interiors.

Prior to me getting this S-500, I thought to myself I’m nuts for spending this much on a car since I’m a certified cheapskate. I’m now considering getting a fully loaded 992.2 GTS at almost $200k. I would never spend $150k on an S Class because the differential between my cheap S and a more expensive one isn’t worth it to me. But, I would consider it for a 911 because there is a demonstrable difference.
