Upgrade to S class from E class

All - I own an E Class with all bells and whistles P3 package with every other option in it (W213 and not the latest one). I am thinking of selling and buying an S Class, to start with a certified 2021 or 2022. Or, will a 2020 S Class be a better choice given the years the previous generation was in existence? Please let me know what are some significant changes from previous generation. My current w213 exactly looks and feels like a w222 inside tech. Thanks!

Depends on if you want the W223 with all the new tech otherwise yes facelift W222 will be a very nice upgrade in everyway to a W213.

I'd avoid the early 223s, lots of electronic issues, COVID parts shortages leading to a number of missing features, on many cars. Some of these things on the electronic side were fixed in software releases, some weren't. You may not be concerned with whatever went missing on a car you might be interested in, but you may also run into a deal breaker.

Without question, were I buying an early MY, I'd demand as part of the sale agreement, that they install the latest system software before you take delivery. I'd also want the complete build on it, some of the missing features would be easier to swallow than others, but many of them like the active seats, seat heating, some of the cars had the 500 seats put in instead of the 580, lots of different stuff went missing. You'd want to be going in eyes open.

Lastly, do not buy the 21" wheels unless you absolutely plan on swapping them out for something else: Huge issues with flats and folded wheels with those. Don't do it to yourself.

I moved from a w212 e550 to w223. I don’t regret it at all. I tried finding a lower mileage w222 but they were hard to find. I agree with avoid early w223 due to missing features.
