New '25 S580 owner
I took delivery of a new '25 S580 over the weekend and drove it gently for about 60 miles. Here's my initial impression of the vehicle:
1. Ride quality
It's unlike anything I've owned before. The ride is basically magnificent.
It's very comparable to the V12 S600 (W222) I extensively drove back in 2015.
I've noticed a little bumpiness or mild tire bounce resonating through the chassis, which I think is due to the overfilled tires 47-49 PSI throughout. I'll adjust those and see if it settles.
Overall, a very smooth and composed ride. I'm in love.
2. Powertrain
It definitely feels like a heavy car but the engine is plenty powerful to make me forget the weight. At least in straight line.
Transmission could be better. It seems to struggle to find the right gear and some shifts can be felt, not harsh but very noticeable.
I'll give it time to let it learn and adapt to my driving.
Brake pedal is tuned to smooth stopping and not the grab/bite of the performance vehicles I've owned before.
The transition from regenerative braking to calipers grabbing is not as smooth as I'd like. Especially on very gradual, smooth stopping.
I was being super easy with the car, so no hard brakings yet.
3. Creature comfort
The tech features are just overwhelming.
I've spent a good 30 min going through most of the MBUX menus and I'm still unsure if I've gone through all settings.
The interior even without the Exclusive Nappa leather is still very plush and gorgeous.
Even the center stack screen that most people hate, I like the fact it's different than what you see in all recent vehicles (1 panel gauge-nav combo stacked on dash).
Ambient lighting is very nice. A little too disco maybe, but I like fancy stuff

The 3D cluster!
I love this one. Still baffled how it can generate the 3D effect in the LCD but I'm just glad I opted for this option. Very cool tech.
3D Burmester is very good, actually.
I initially thought it wasn't as good as I expected, listening to Carplay music from my iPhone - until I put some FLAC files on a USB stick to try out.
Wow. For a stock/base system this is superb. Made me wonder how better the 4D must be.
As with any high-end audio, it magnifies the source's sound quality.
Any poor, encrypted, compressed formats will suffer in quality.
I truly wish this system came with a DVD player so I could throw in some DVD-As.
Still a lot to learn about the car in the next few months.
I won't be driving it anymore until I get it PPF'd next week. Can't wait to break her in and learn all the 'quirks and features'!

1 thing I couldn't quite figure out : HOW DO YOU FULLY TURN OFF THE STEERING ASSIST?
Even after turning off the feature in 'Assist' in MBUX, it still has the ../ : \.. icon in the HUD and it lights up green whenever I'm on a straight road, intervening whenever I go over the lane.
How do I fully disengage this annoying nanny?
Any feedback would be appreciated!

Multimedia system: go to settings, assistance. Driving, Activate or deactivate.

I was looking at the Driving menus and turned off all active lane keep assist and so on.
I've tried different buttons and looked at the manual without much luck...
The volume control is just stupid and frustrating. My only gripe so far.

The audio quality is amazing through the car's online music. CarPlay is mediocre.
For the audio skip, pull the audio info up in the center between the gauges and then the right directional thumb control will skip tracks when you swipe right.

Yes, conflicting information on the door jam and the fuel cap is puzzling. I'll listen to everyone's advice and run around 35 PSI.
Listening to loseless format made me really appreciate the music played thru the base Burmester.
I should try the 'Online Music', although I'm not sure how that works.
Thanks for the tip in using the steering controls.
Now I see what everyone's been complaining about regarding the steering touch controls.
Major failure for sure.

Thanks for sharing your impressions. Hope you enjoy in good health.

It's like as if the car is super modest and trying to hide its power.
I also like the deceleration upon lifting the throttle in S+ mode.
Those ars are definetly something else on the comfort side of things
Question,
Can you take a picture of the HUD itself (dashboard picture)
I see it on the outside interior shot but looking the "top" and also how long is it.
Looks like it is wider than the rest of the MB fleet.

But it's not any different than the rest of the W223 AR HUDs.
I was hoping to find a lighter color especially with so many different shades of beautiful silver to choose from, but my local dealer couldn't offer too many dealer trade options with the packages I wanted.
But the Graphite metallic was much more attractive in person than I saw in the pictures.
I'm happy with the understated exterior/interior color combo.
I'll be doing a full Stealth PPF wrap to accentuate its body contours. I'm excited to see how it looks afterwards.
It gives the car the 'Magno' paint look.
I've noticed while it doesn't show the original paint's metallic flakes as much, it has its own matte 'shine' that makes the car's contour or lines show more depending on application.
