S55 or S600?

2005 E55
S55 or S600?
I currently have a 05 E55 and have become addicted to the awesome power of the AMG engine. I am making plans for another MB and I want an S class, but I am undecided between the 55 or 600.The cost difference is about $11,000 in the fully loaded configuration, so I don't consider it an obstacle. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I've driven both and I prefer the V12 because it has more torque. Definitely more feel of acceleration. I read somewhere that MB lowered the specs on the S600 to make it easier to sell the S55. I'm not sure about that. I am sure about how I felt driving them.

yea i would do a used S600 then the computer upgrades from renntech. guy on here trevor or tyrone something like has one 04 S600 with renntech upgrades. i think his car runs mid 11's on drag radials. Long story short the S600 with renntech computer is like 30 hp down on the new S65.

Go with the 600. Having a new 55 in the garage, and having driven the 600, they are both for all intensive purposes just as fast. The superchargers are not very reliable from my experiance. If you really want a fast sled, go with the 65.

I think the S55 looks better. wheels, body kit, brakes... looks more like a drivers car. However it hard to argue with 745 lbtq with the computer upgrades. stock is 493hp 590tq with renntechs upgraded computer it bumps it to 625hp 745tq for $6,400...

I wonder if there are any dependability/maintenance issues associated with the V12. If not, I think it would be a great motor. I am leaning toward the S600, but I might see if I can get a good deal on an S65 when the new body style comes out. Until then, I have a more-than-adequate means of transportation with the E55.
