Dont know if plans where changed 1-2 weeks ago but about 2/3 months ago I was told that in 2006 the S65 AMG would debut (A V12) and then in 1st quarter 2007 a V8 AMG (the one that would replace the S55 AMG) would debut.

I was also told that along with the new 6.2l NA V8 MB were also developing another V8 which is rumoured to be a 6.0 turbocharged engine and this is the engine which would go in the S/SL/CL class. This wasnt for definate though as MB had not decided which engine to use for the S, SL and CL as of yet.

Will try to find out if any plans where changed in the past few weeks!

That's the M156 E63 LA normally aspirated AMG V8 which will debut in the ML 63 AMG in the second quarter of 2006.

That's the "new V8" engine codenamed M157 and originally intended for the S 63 AMG, SL 63 AMG and CL 63 AMG. It was cancelled at the time when MBUSA announced the renaming from S 500 to S 550; but somehow I couldn;t find it in the press release ;-). BTW, some folks have been joking about this M157 engine designation for quite some time since it was used twice. The other one being a 80 degree Kompressor V12 a few decades ago and used e.g. in the W157.
