S65 Debut at the Detroit Auto Show

As any true MB enthusiast knows, there's no Mercedes' engine variant more coveted than the one described in the photograph above.
The V12 - the superlative, the consummate, the pinnacle of the Mercedes' powerplants... and it's now being featured again at the Detroit Auto Show, mated beautifully with the all-new 2007 S-Class.
The result is the S65 AMG, a grandiose sedan that propels occupants from 0-60 mph in just 4.4 seconds, all while sporting a sumptuous leather interior with burl walnut accents.
Although it is true the Mercedes S 65 features a monstrous 612 horsepower V12, the fun doesn't stop there - it also features a plethora of enhancements not found in the standard S-Class. First and foremost - the AMG body styling, which includes a new front and rear apron, side skirts, two twin chrome tailpipes, and 19" five-spoke AMG light alloy wheels.
Although cosmetic enhancements are fun, performance enhancements are even better, and the S 65 features plenty. A few highlights include all new AMG high-performance composite brakes, an AMG SPEEDSHIFT 5-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel gearshift paddles, and an AMG sports suspension with the Active Body Control system.
As if all of this wasn't enough, Mercedes decided it was time to get a little whimsical, so they added a new system they're calling RACETIMER. Basically, if you're lucky enough to have access to your own private racetrack, RACETIMER allows you to store the time of your fastest laps, your average and top speeds, and the lap distance.
