If you haven't bought a car yet, you might want to consider an 05 or 06 S600 as well. I guarantee you won't be able to tell the difference in acceleration below 80 mph, and after a visit to Renntech, it will be just as quick as your SL was. Aside from quad pipes, badges, 19s, and a 220 mph gauge cluster, you're really getting the same car, and they can be had for a bargain. I know of a nice blue 2005 at a dealership in Houston that is already Rennteched, in the 70k range. You can add the 19" charcoal wheels and sport exhaust and still come out way ahead.
Hi,
I appreciate the advice and I hear what you are saying but I promised myself if I get another Mercedes that I will get the AMG. The 65's suspension is a little stiffer for handling and the engine is a step up from the 600's. To me it is a big hastle to get a new exhaust, new wheels, new badges, and an aero package when I can just get the AMG. Plus when I upgrade the ECU on the 65 engine it is a monster. I always regretted getting the SL600 over the SL65 a little even though I loved my SL. From a money and practical standpoint you a right but it's the little things and details of the AMG that make me happy. Thanks.

By the way, I SOLD MY SL600 TODAY!!!! I am very sad I can't wait to get my new car!!
What was the price you sold your SL for? Did you trade it or sell to a private party?

Thanks. Was curious how the value is holding up. Do you feel the Renntech upgrades were a positive or a negative in selling your car?

In this case it was positive. The guy was looking for a car with the upgrade already complete. I think he got a great deal considering I spent $7k on the ECU upgrade and $3K just a few months ago for new wheels and tires.

I Made A Deal Today!!!

Hi,
I pulled the trigger today and made a deal on a Silver/Ash 2006 S65. I'll probably get it in about 1 week. I can't wait!! I'm buying it site unseen but I am getting it inspected at a local Mercedes dealer before the deal is complete. Just thought I would let you all know.

THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!
