Problems with 2003, 2004, 2005 S55 AMG
My friend is buying an S55 AMG and we wanted to know what problems are known in each of these model years: 2003, 2004, 2005 S55 AMG?
What are major differences between the models?
Any problems, re-calls, warnings, etc... we should know about?
Any details would help.

The only problems ive ever delt with on a s55 would be the secondary air injection pump. Usually they die setting a check engine light. On later models they have a recall on them but which includes a new relay and programming on the engine control. The recall doesnt seem to aid the problem too well because the 55's ive replaced pumps on had already had the recalls done to them. But otherwise not much problems other than going thru rear tires in less that 10k miles

SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER:
2003 S55-older navigation requiring CD's, NOT GOOD
2004 S55 Newer DVD Nav system AND last year of 100% of maintenance paid by dealer during warranty period-VERY GOOD
2005-2006 S55-Mercedes stopped paying for all maintenance after 2004- NOT AS GOOD
So, in conclusion, the BEST choice would be:
a very clean low mileage 2004 S55
JUST MY OPINION. FIND THE BEST DEAL YOU CAN
