Headers and other engine mods for S63?

Someone had mentioned Kleeman headers adding more hp to the 6.3 engine. Does anyone have any stats on this as well as info and ideas on other performance upgrades such as CPU and smart chips? I live in the Los Angeles area does anyone know of any good and reputable shops in this area? If I change the headers will there be any issues with my warranty? Thanks.

EuroElites has the 600 hp for the 6.3 engine, but it is not available for retail. Removing the cats and adding downpipes and long tube headers will cause the CEL to come on. When the CEL is on, after driving for 50 miles, your car will be in limp mode. That's our only concern at this point.

600 hp power kit :
Cams, downpipes, long tube headers, ECU ME 9.7 upgrade. (600 on the crank)

ECU upgrade is available. Both Kleemann and Renntech have headers available. I am not sure if Kleemann has remove the CEL yet. The CEL issue is currently being investigated and hopefully we have a solution soon.

Do you know how much the ECU upgrade is, how much hp and torque are added with it and where I can have it done in LA? Thanks.

Adam,

Will you send me the information that noxxin was asking about too?
I was the guy that had mentioned about putting on the kleemann headers and that was all i can find.
Would like to know what else i can do to the car and specs for mods.
Still waiting for my ride.
Should be in within the next couple of weeks.

btw...I'm in the east bay area.

Hey, come on by. We can do the ECU upgrade in house.

Right now, only headers (shorty), ECU, cams are available.

2008 S63=AMG: Black (Savanna/Cashmere) Kleeman Delimited 200MPH
Shipping my S63 to Kleemann on the 9th for fabrication and dyno

All,

I am shipping my S63 to Cory @ Kleeman in Colorado Springs for a week. They will use it to fabricate the downpipes for mass production (they currently have header but not exhaust for the S). While it is there Cory will dyno it and work on the computer tweaks for more HP and delimitation of the ft. lbs. Then when my wife and I travel to C. Springs in September, Kleemann will bolt on the finished product. Cory was excited to have the car for a full week to test and tune. We both agreed that there is a torque limitation issue with the 63s. He hopes to figure it out and boost it.

Thier package will also tighten the rear differential ration from 30% bias to 60%. Delimit the 030 from 186 to 200mph. Add 60hp (approx.) to baseline and ?? ft lbs.

I will post his results when he has them.

I shall be a very happy man if I have a bone stock black S63 sitting in my drive. No headers, big pipes or de-limiting of anything required. A common gardener 100% original car will do me very well.

Amen.

All of the engine guys I know tell me shorty headers do nothing for HP increase. Only long headers work. A buddy of mine at Renntech confirmed this on the Q.T. Stick to catback mods on the exhaust. Good luck. Also if you decrease back pressure to much you will loose torque.

Car is back from Kleeman

Transport dropped car back off at my house Saturday night. Cory fabricated the down pipes and shipped them to Denmark.

"Hi Shane-

OK, I've got a scheduled pick up time for your S63. Ian will be here tomorrow morning at 9 AM- I'm going to meet him here, then he'll be on his way back to you. I'll try and shoot some pictures of the loading process for you when he gets here tomorrow morning.

Thanks again Shane. Let me download the preliminary pictures I took of the prototype down pipes so you can have a look and see what to expect. I've already shipped them out to Denmark, so they'll be making a jig and putting them into production within the next couple weeks. I've requested the first production set for your visit in September.

Thanks!

I have attached the baseline Dyno specs. They are lacking from what Mercedes is claiming..............

Something is not right. If it is at the crank, than this S63 is missing about 75HP.

Sorry, but it is not true. This is not based on someone's opinion, but on personal experience.

100% true! Shorty headers will cough up gains as well just about half of what long tubes will net..

Shorties will not produce as much as true fully-tuned long headers. No doubt about that. But they still will make a nice improvement worth putting them on. And I am not even going into the whole cats legality issue.

I am starting a tuning program for 63s on Tuesday. I will post the results.
