S65 AMG (W221) and S55 AMG (wifes car) will post pictures in next couple of days
S65 AMG UK owner

Hi, I own an S65 AMG, which I took delivery of last August, one of the first in the UK. The car is really great, with the exception of the cost in the U.K. With tax and all extras, it came out at £160k. What is the price in the states, with all extras, and any taxes you have?? Have a digital tv receiver in the car, do you have this in the States? Do you have keyless go, or do you have to physically put the key in the barrel, or is it the same as in |Europe where you just need the keys in your pocket, say, and then press the start button? I am interested in this as someone told me it was not licensed in the States. Really great car,, with the exception of having gone through four sets of rear tyres since last august. Would anyone with a 65 let me know if they have had any problems at all with their car. Thanks, Chip

Keyless Go is indeed available in the US.

Do you mean one of the first W221 S65s in the UK, or is it a W220? That impacts the price question quite a bit. The equivalent W221 in the US is closer to 90,000 pounds. I bought a new W220 S65 in September (there are yet some available) for the equivalent of £56k. That made some German colleagues cry.

I was looking at an S65 at the dealers yesterday, pretty well loaded and the sticker was under £100k. Are you sure you meant to put £160k or $160k

Ignore the above, the more I think about it the more I think it was an S63. I didn't realise the price difference between the 63 and 65 was so much.

Are you planning Renntech Stage 2? That would make the *ultimate* sleeper.

I'm sorry to break this to you but ... in the US, they're the equivalent of £95k - new.
Here's a link where you should find a new one Ebay

I was at the MB facility at Brooklands a few weeks ago and couldn't believe the price difference.

I drove the S65 on their track, what an incredible car. Enjoy it and do something exciting for yourself, mod it.

I had a w220 S65 (old model) which I bought 2nd hand for £80k at a bit less than a year old (new was £148k I think).

It is a bit of a problem but they book value the S65 at just above the lower S63 model, the car is priced a bit high in the UK. I saw a W221 S65 for 99k , just a couple of weeks before buying the S63, I nearly went for it but wasn't the spec I wanted and not sure I wanted another total torque monster

Also modding them in the UK can have impact the warrenty, a guy I know modded his Sl55, remap, supercharger work, suspension lowered with new wheels. Anyway his suspension failed and he had a huge problem getting them to fix it, then the diff went and they refused to fix it.

I had no engine or transmission problesm with the car (same engine and trans as yours) The suspension (totally standard) only failed once. The car needed new discs and pads at 35000 miles (£2k) , the sat nav failed once, need one new wheel (£800) as it buckled. Only two weeks off the road , my previous S55 spent 9 weeks off the road , mercedes eh

I don't think any car in the US comes stock with any tuner, digital or otherwise...
