MB S550 Designo, BMW F10 535i, BMW X5, RRS
aircon = airconditioning

i believe he is referring to the rear duel zone climate control which we have available in the Rear Seat Package in the US

Please correct if I am mistaken

Crazy Brits! I thought the 4 zone climate was standard in the US. And parking guidance sounds Lexusesque, no?

Only on the V-12s. It's part of code 325 on the S550 and doesn't seem to be available on the US S63 at the moment.
On the W220 it eats up the console storage. I consider it a net minus on my S65. Does it have the same drawback on the 221?

I agree, but in Europe it makes more sense. Tiny parking spots.

Congrats

Curious re: your impressions of S63 wet weather traction vs old 65? What tires/wheels does your S63 have?

Also curious if you find paddleshifters useful in twisties driving?...personally, find paddleshifters not very useful, as auto is brilliant....and would want, esp in manual mode, for center screen to be a large tach w/prominent digital readouts of gear selected and speed....screw the current, silly large center analogish speedo/Racetimer nonsense...

Thanks for the replies

Quick vid showing the rear seat features

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p50chPYtbIQ

The parking guidence is in addition to the park assist , it tells you when a space is big enough to park in and gives you the steering inputs to allow you to park in it I have no idea how it works but will try it today

The rear aircon is the rear climate control

The lighting package is a waist level interior option that gives a gentle downwards glow round the interior at night, sure it will be called something else or standard in US.

It is the twin of yours noxxin

Haven't had a chance to stretch it so can't compare the wet weather traction or grip yet, tyres are 255/35 20's front 275/35 20's rear Pirelli P Zero's

Thanks a bunch for the video of those options...bloody brilliant! Did I use that right? For everyone else, remember...every time you see something overseas that you wish we had in the US, blame every lawyer you know. It goes something like this..."your honor, my client is suing MBUSA for $17million as a result of injuries sustained to his dog from putting it in the refrigerator in the back seat of his S63. MBUSA did not properly warn/notify my client of the dangers of said action and the refrigerator was much colder than is necessary to chill soft drinks...or pets."

I have seen a video on Youtube of ParkGuidance on a CL .... pretty cool, but don't think option on US cars yet

Basically the car has side radar sensors (like Distronic). When you indicate that you want to park, it scans the nearest side of the car to determing when a space is avail that is big enough to accomodate the car. It then indicates (i believe in the dash screen where night vision appears) what manouvers you need to make to fit in the screen. Much closer to auto-parking than just the grid lines in the rear-view mirror

Wouldn't worry too much re: pesky US plaintiffs' lawyers.....cars cost 30-50% less in US than in EU/UK....and EU/UK don't have cheap, $0 down leases that MB is forced to use to sell cars in hyper-competitive, litigation-prone US mkt, that also has lease-gap insurance, much cheaper fuel and generally more spacious parking, etc...

Have ContiSports on my first CL63; getting CL63 w/030 package within next 2-3 wks; hope it has Pirellis, as sounds like this new-tech Pirelli tire is latest/greatest.....

Oh no...we've got a lawyer on the board!! Just as an fyi though, the cost of gas in the UK is more expensive b/c over 60% of the price is tax, the cost of cars in the US being cheaper (including lease deals) is primarily the result of competition in the US market, and gap insurance is not free and is available throughout the world in markets where it's economically feasable to generate profit for the insurance companies. None of which have to do with lawyers in the US. The inability to get certain options/specs on our cars (top speed limitation, ability to play DVD on NAV screen, varied steering wheel shape configurations, etc.)....directly the result of lawyers.

Unless you're saying that lawyers in the US are the reason we have cheaper car prices than the UK, gap insurance, cheaper gas, and larger parking spots...I still contend that I can't watch my Schindler's Fist DVD on the nav screen while driving 180mph down I95 , drinking an icy-cool Fresca from my in-car fridge b/c of LAWYERS!!

Let me get this straight.... We can't watch DVD's while we drive. We don't get refrigerator's in our $140,000 cars, and we can't even get right-hand drive. Obviously, America Sucks! That does it! I'm voting for Dennis Kucinich for President! Oh, wait. He's another lawyer. Damn!!!

Nice ride, though, Mmmm.

Hey Rice, can we get some pics of your ride? You have the perfect S63...love it. America is #1, American trial lawyers are evil...unless they give me the right to drive in the passenger's seat, then they're back in my good graces. At least until the next guy sues for a $50mil pair of pants.

I'm clearly a complete loser b/c I'm excited to see pics of your car...a car I've already seen a gillion pictures of (not yours...in general), but somehow it's like seing it for the first time when I see personal pics. I am NOT looking for any corroboration on the loser comment.

I should advise you that such libelous remarks re my pooch may land you in a hella counter suit. Hey, do you have a white CL63? I saw one driving by the Pentagon on Monday I think. If you're close to DC, as an FYI, I convinced my detail shop to open up what I call self service Sundays if you're interested. I go over every Sunday...indoor a/c facility with everything you could need. Full use of all of their professional supplies (washes, waxes, vacuum, powerwasher, tire shine, etc...everything is there)...pretty sweet deal. The shop is called NAB International and they're right behind Jack Taylor's used cars on Rt 1. I'd love to check out the ride. Oh, he charges $25, which might seem like a lot to wash your own car, but it's actually kind of relaxing I find. Seems like only the true enthusiasts wind up using the service. I've only seen M5s, AMGs, Porsches, and and RS6 there. Let me know if you want to check it out...I'll be there this Sunday.

I am starting to master the paddle shifters, on the freeway 4th gear has become my new best friend, need to pass 30 cars real quick??....drop into 4then punch it and I feel noticeably more torque then I did when I had my CLS55 or E55. It is smoother tho and way really feels like i am going 40 when doing 90.

Noxxin - That's great - from what speed do you drop into 4th ? I'm still just beginning to play - I'm still using it to slow.
