With respect to shifting, I've concluded that the problem is not the transmission but rather the engine management system that actually backs off power slightly just before the shift. Therefore, at low, in town driving speeds the slight loss of power results in your body moving slightly forward, hence the "jerky" feeling.

Some answers to posted questions
The problem that I reported with shifting has been corrected by the dealer. They flash loaded a change and now the lag I was experiencing, particularly during the 1-2 shift, is gone.
