S63 Arrived
Took delivery on Saturday with all of the '08 mods. Car includes all available options including night vision, Distronic Plus, rear seat package, Panorama Roof and of course the AMG performance option package.
I have disappointment in the 7-speed trans that is somewhat "jerky" on average start out as compared to the 5-speed in my old '03 S55. I was also chagrined to learn that the Motorola Razr Maxx will not communicate via either Bluetooth or the MB Razr cradle. I want my phone to mostly remain in the car, automatically charged, and consequently I need to go with the outdated Motorola 710 or the basic Razr. It's a real shame that MB can't keep up with cell phone technology. If anyone has found a way to have the Maxx communicate, please let me know.
I tried a DVD and it plays perfectly as long as in Park. Also the Bird's Eye GPS view is interesting. Night vision and the rear back-up camera are mostly a novelty to show off to friends but since I love gadgets, who cares?
The 20" AMG wheels in the performance package are a must. I also like the AMG display option that now shows each gear you are in, even in S or C mode. Brakes are fantastic.

Keep in mind the transmission is brand new. It takes a while for shift adaptation to occur. Basically the transmission has to teach itself how it reacts to different inputs (from the valve body). If it doesnt smooth out after 500-1000 miles, there may be an issue.
Congrats on the new car!

The tranny does take some geting used to. I think Noxxin has played with it the most, I'm getting the feel for it - I agree the 5 speed on my old E55 seemed easier "out of the box".

S63 Arrival - Follow Up on Shifting plus photos
With respect to shifting, I've concluded that the problem is not the transmission but rather the engine management system that actually backs off power slightly just before the shift. Therefore, at low, in town driving speeds the slight loss of power results in your body moving slightly forward, hence the "jerky" feeling.
The car is Graphite with Gray interior.

Nice car. I have one on order to show up in a few months so I am glad to see people are enjoying their cars.
As for the phone issue, there is a new cradle in the works to fit the new Razor phone. The current Razor Cradle does not fit the phone as you know but the new one will work just fine. The best solution may be to get a old razor off e-bay until MB has the new Cradle in production.
It is said to be on the market in September. So its not THAT far off.
Good luck!

She's a beaut. Any pics of the interior? I'm curious to see if MB did anything different with the DG package on the S63. Was there something in particular that made you opt for the 63 vs the 65? With all options and the designo package, the price point is awfully close...just wondering.
She's certainly iphone-worthy...time to stomp the razr.
