Tire pressure (Redux) - B-Pillar vs. Fuel Door

Searched this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/s55-amg-s65-amg-s63-amg-w220-w221/195158-tire-pressure.html on S63 tire pressure.

But, despite a recommendation in that thread of 44 Front and 40 Rear, I'm troubled by a contradiction on the stickers:

The Driver door B-Pillar says one thing, while the fuel filler door says another. Here's the scoop:

Front: 255/35 ZR20 XL --- Rear 275/35 ZR20XL

The Driver door B Pillar sticker reads:

Front: 42 PSI / Rear: 44 PSI

But... The fuel filler door reads:

3 Passengers - Front: 38 PSI / Rear: 38 PSI
5 Passenger - Front: 42 PSI / Rear: 44 PSI
(Warm tires up to +4 PSI)

This is quite a variance and almost contradictory.

My question: What would be the optimal tire pressure on my S63 given an average of 2 passengers?

Sorry for the cross-posted. I posted it in the tire forum, but no response yet. Thanks in advance!

Not that I know anything about tyres... But my tyre guy does 40 psi / 44 psi on my 19" W220 wheels eventhough the fuel filler cap advices this for 4 people + luggage and I rarely travel that way.

The point is that the fuel filler cap advices for 18" wheels and my tyre guy explained that more inches require more PSI. If your fuel filler cap advices 38/38 for the 19" wheels I'd stick with the 40/44 on 20" wheels.

The ride will be a bit firmer, and the tread of the tyres will last longer as a bonus.

It's been 2800 miles with the 44/40 and it seems fine. I never looked at my B pillar I'll take a look tonite. The fuel filler door indicates the difference based upon speed not # of passengers (as it should be on this car ;-) ).

Thanks, guys

I did 44 front / 40 rear today. Still gonna follow up w/ my MBUSA contacts.

My driving is 1-2 persons on board, running over twisties w/ very little sustained high-speed interstate driving. On my 7, I kept the pressure 42Front / 38 Rear on 19" Pirelli Pzero Rossos.

Let's keep each other posted if we hear anything official... Thanks again.

Just checked my markers - as I indicated the fuel filler is <100 and > 100, the B pillar is a generic with tire info and indicates the <100 pressures.
