That car is absolutely amazing. I'm torn between black and white for mine. I grabbed the white because it was a good deal and my E55 was encroaching on LEMON territory.. But the new body style with the aggressive front vents in the fenders and the 030 wheels seem like they would look awesome with the Arctic white paint. Black is classically beautiful too. Tell us what you think of it as a compliment to the Ferrari. Obviously they're verrrryyyy different, but.. How does it handle, brake, go, etc? I'm looking forward to hearing about it, seeing more of it, and having you around to contribute!

1. ummmm simple the differance between a S63 and a S65. about 40 grand. Thats a lot since I don't get paid for being a race car driver. LOL
2. I also own a Ferrari. I don't care how fast an SL55 or 65 goes, IMO there is not a lot of cars out there that compare to the thrill of driving a Ferrari. To me a sports car is about more than just speed, there are other senses involved, like sound, feel, and being so well known and admired by the general public, that you get pictures of it taken everyday, people ask if you mind them looking at it. passerbys shout at you and give you a thumbs up. And restaurants, stores, and mall security lets you park it whereever you want. LOL. I just had an SL55 and you get none of that. Hope this doesn't start up an argument.

A few things differant in the 08 than the 07 S600 I had
The 08 plays DVD video in the front screen when parked, the 07 didn't.
The Nav is 1000 times better. I thought the 07 nav was a bit too basic.
The 08 live traffic feature blew me away, It gives you the option of going to any near highway and seeing the traffic, condition and obstacles such as construction, accident, average traffic speed etc. or just putting on the nav map and seeing icons for stop and go traffic or traffic jams along the route.
Command also seems to give you more vehicle personalization options, something I felt the previous year was lacking in.
Driving impressions, braking! braking! OMG the brakes are incredible compared the the S600
don't get me wrong I loved the S600 the interior is definately more plush, maybe even a bit too plushy for some. (ooooh I think I made up a word, Plushy haha) The S63 exterior touches sets you apart from a regular MB. After getting out of a Ferrari, I don't wanna feel like an old man, I still want some sport in my drive.
A few minor things gone. No umbrella holder in 08 No storage under the trunk compartment hmmmmm, I guess I can live with that.
A lot of people ask, But you live in New England< you got rid of the GL ? What are you gonna do when there is a snow storm? And I reply. That's easy, I'll just stay home, watch tv, work from my cellphone and let the plows do there job.

You are right, it is a differant beast. but when you get out of a Ferrari, it is very hard to get into an average driving car and not feel depressed. So I changed my daily driver from a gl450 to the S63. It does awaken some of the senses that I like in a car even more than 0-60 times. The sound and feel being most important. The brakes are amazing. took some getting used to because they are very touchy. The handling is impressive for a huge beast like this, and the acceleration is good, not incredible but a lot more linear than the S55 or S600 I had, It doesn't give you that turbo or SC pin back in your seat when they kick in feeling, but it just feels like power, similar to a muscle car.

That's the kind of description/review that keeps me a regular on this board! Well said!! The S63 sounds like a logical evolution of the mighty S55 and a really exciting one at that. Especially since I'm looking at 335i or Shelby GT500 convertibles to get my forced induction thrills. Anyways, look forward to hearing/seeing more of your beast(s) and discussing them with you in the near future!

Great car , simply stunning. Love the wheels. I think the CL63 and S63 are amazingly good looking. CONGRATS and good luck keeping this thread civil

I admire all of you who bought black. I just can't keep a black car clean - and while they look incredible when they are clean, they look like sh*t when they are dirty. What the h*ll, at the speed we drive these things, most people just see a blur, anyway.

Congrats
Great summary of car....
Have at least 3 colleagues who have both CL63 and 599 (who've owned numerous new AMGs and Fs over last 5 yrs).....many were daily-commuting in 599 for past 4-6 mos until their CL63 arrived....and now they drive CL63 prob 90%+ of time.....
AMG did a brilliant job engineering S/CL63s....very balanced driver's cars.....
If Ferrari had similar passive safety as latest S/CL, the share of use battle would be closer....
But the valet parking argument for F vs AMG is weak.....any city has only 2-3 restaurants that matter; many repeat buyers of these cars are regulars at these restaurants (regularly see dual 599s or CL63s (sometimes even in same color) parked in front of predictable 2-3 restaurants in SF); and, in any case, a generous tip quickly solves ability to self-park own car wherever, unless the 2-3 spots in front of restaurant are already occupied by generous-tipping, regular customers w/599/CL63....always amusing to see which cities/restaurants truly have high-powered, latest/greatest cars vying for desirable pkg spots, esp on a rainy Mon/Tu eve when most guys are out w/their beater cars picking up fast-/takeout food.....

Hilarious how these cars perk up a debate on parking rights . They are both in a league of their own.
But here is my experiance. I've gone to Foxwoods casino a few times in MB waited in line for valet like everyone else, on some days valet line can be long.
One day, go in the F-car, got spotted pulling up to the line and had the valet guy wave me on past everyone else and told me to pull it over right there. ( in the front) when I asked how much is the valet. He replied "Huh, what do you mean, you don't have to pay!" LOL

If you have that as an option, It is in the glove compartment. Go to Audio in command and select AUX. Go to audio from your steering wheel control on the left. and all of your Ipod playlists and library will show in the dash screen not in the command screen. Too bad not the command screen, thats a feature they will probably upgrade one day. Enjoy.
