S55 Bose audio adding aftermarket subwoofer
I want to add an aftermarket subwoofer to the Bose system in my 04 S55. I had the dealer disable the "autopilot" auto volume adjust and noise cancellation system. Does anyone know where to get a good signal from? I was hoping to find a full range signal. Also is there a good wire to tap for use as an amp remote turn on. Any help would be appreciated.

for you, 'cause I'd like to know too; the factory stereo just isn't doing it for me...Are you upgrading the door speakers or doing anything else? Inquiring minds want to know!

You can take the signal off the factory sub. It's an easy wire job, as the battery is also in the trunk. It took my stereo guy less than an hour, including hiding my aftermarket amp above the CD stacker.
I am thinking about punching a hole in the wall of the rear seatback where the armrest is, and turning the sub box so it pounds right through. These cars are built so solid, that it is tough to get the bass into the cabin.
Has anyone else done something similar?

I can not recall where I saw this but someone removed the rear armrest and made a box with either 2 10s or 2 8s. It also it was like an "L" shaped box that curved down where the armrest lays on the seat. I am also considering adding like a 10 or 12 to give it more bass. Can the sub be removed?

I have an amp bolted to the back panel , insided the trunk and just a 10" sub where the factory sub was. Plan to change out to 12" soon though.

Isn't the gas tank behind the rear seats? I plan on removing the factory sub and using that hole to get the sound in the cabin.. I might even build a box and port it threw there...

European W220 (and maybe Canada??) have the option for ski pass-through, and option for mini fridge. The gas tanks on Euro w220 are different. Here in the US, the tank fills the entire compartment behind rear seats, so drilling would be bad.

I just confirmed...Canadian models have the same tank as the US one.
