2007 S600. 2005 Carrera GT. 2007 Range Rover SC. 2008 BMW X5. 1967 SS Chevelle.
I know you lose TTV12 but the S63 IMO looks better. Its very sporty looking compared to the S600. And also, from what I read, even with the TTV12 it is not fater than the S600. And I didnt know about losing some interior features going to the 63, that could be a deal killer.

64' Caddy, LX470, S65..GL..
Love the oldies car....Thanks for the pics.
I love the S63 Rims...I have heard that the interior leather is not as soft VS S600/S65...But then I thought...wait a second - The S65 is AMG and so is the S63 AMG....Shouldn't they have the exact leather quality?

I'd go with the 65 for sure.
BTW, cmcjo, any chance I can see a pic of the Carrera GT? Where in Jersey are you?

I think a better question is whether the S65 is worth the premium over the S600? I'm not sure personally... you can get a powerchip ecu for S600 ($2,500) and it will be faster than S65 for a lot less $$$.
In addition, as far as styling difference, a lot of people would prefer the more subtle and "clean" look of the S600 that doesn't scream "look at me" as much as the S65. The ride is slightly more comfortable on the S600 as well...

2004 Mb SL 600 Renntech stage 2 05' Cl65 Renntech stage 2. 07' Ml 63 Stock
I say you save a few bucks get the 600 Then Renntech the car! I'm almost certain the 600 with Renntech stage 2 would beat a stock 65.

Is there a mistake at MBUSA?? It lists the S600 with the 5 speed and the S65 with the 7 speed! I didn't think the 7 speed would take the torque. Again, mistake?
There are significant differences between the 600 and 65. The 65 engine is bigger at 6.0 liter vs 5.5 liter. It has larger turbos and makes more power. Of course you can upgrade the 600 but you can also upgrade the 65. Peak power on BOTH may well be transmission limited. Of course styling tuning brakes and features are also different. You could make a 600 LOOK like a 65 but it will never quite be a 65.

S65 all the way. A modded 600 will never be a 65 even if its faster...Its the top of the top. Who cares about gas mileage also when you are already considering these cars in the first place.

The bigger displacement and turbos give the 65 a wider, flatter and higher torque curve. It develops over 500 ft-lbs. from 1,500 RPM to redline and max torque (738 ft-lbs.) from below 2,000 RPM. RennTech and other tuners mainly allow either engine, 600 or 65, to produce it's natural torque peak in the midband. The stock 65 torque curve looks like a square wave. This means that while a tuner can match a stock 65 peak power with a tuned 600's peak power, the tuned 600 will develop it over a much narrower RPM range. The bottom line is that the amazing responsiveness of the 65, pulling from idle to readline in any gear, won't be duplicated by a tuned 600, although it will be a very fast car no doubt.

What exactly happens to a transmission that gets fried by too much power and torque??? Are the clutches stripped? Gears stripped? Mounts broken? What exactly goes bad or is broken when a transmission fails? What is going on when a tranny is in "limp mode"?
