What?.... I can't believe you just said that. When you start spending over $100,000 on a vehicle, you completely blow any sense of money out of the water when it comes to purchasing cars.... hahaha! I have an S65 and do you think when I went to the dealership to pick up the 600 HP+ V12 Bi-Turbo Beast, that I was thinking in my mind... "Wow, I maybe I should get an S600 with only 510 HP to get better gas mileage"... Now I can see if you're at the dealership trying to decide between the 4 cylinder Accord vs. the 6 cylinder.

hahahaha....

Anyway..... I love your rides. How do you like the Super Charged Range? I just picked up an 08 and it's much nicer than my 06. And what about your GT? I have always wanted one, but Coogi keeps giving me crap about purchasing one.... ha

2007 S600. 2005 Carrera GT. 2007 Range Rover SC. 2008 BMW X5. 1967 SS Chevelle.
You of all people should know I was joking about the gas mileage My chevelle gets less than 3 miles per gallon. Who cares about gas when you can have fun driving these things.

As far as the RR SC, it is by far my best daily driver SUV I have ever had and I tried them all. Including my last GL450 which I didn't like at all. I think my RR 07 is very similar to the 08. I also have the BMWX5 which is faster and handles way better than the RR but nowhere as comfortable.

The RR SC, needs a little more power but what it lacks in power makes up for it in comfort and how easy it is to drive at fast highway speeds. One finger cruising at 100MPH and the RR feels incredible stable and straight.

The seats are very comfortable, I like the looks, I can go on and on with this car. I would love to see Ipod intgration and cell phone voice/address book through the nav screen. Did the 08 add that yet?

As far as the CGT, that would be your favorite car ever. The car is so fast and light you will have a blast driving it. The sound is intoxicating.
I think I am getting straight pipes installed in a few weeks

SLR is an awesome car, don't you have that as well?

Your one and only complaint about RR will be answered this Fall with the new 5.0 liter V8,about 500hp.....

Absent do you have any links to this information. I cant find anything on the 500hp motor for the 09 RR? Dealer doesn't know either. But then again dealers are the last to know. I see that in 2012 they are talking about an aluminum body to shed 800 pounds or so.

THANKS!

not even a close compare...S65 is a totally different animal. S65 was a totally different animal than my S55.

On paper the S65 looks better, since it has everything the S600 has plus a better engine. However, if you're intending to use the car as a daily car and not just a pleasure/fun car then it could be better to go with the S600.

A guy who owns a S65 AMG on a different forum pointed out something worth noting and that was that his 20 inch rims get bent easily over time from hitting potholes, bumps, and so on. If you're going to stay on smooth and frequently maintained race tracks or suburban roads then an S65 would be great but once you get into the cities or the freeways then those 20 inch rims can become a hindrance to your pocketbook, unless you don't mind your rims getting bent out of shape.

Plus there's aesthetics issues. Unless you race frequently, those giant shifting levers are too big for their use; in normal driving the little shifting buttons of the S550 and S600 will suffice. Plus this is just me but I don't like the AMG diamond-pattern leather design. I very much prefer the smooth and clean look of the ordinary leather.

The AMG exterior looks sharper and more aggressive, but I think it's a small thing to sacrifice. A current generation S-class is going to turn heads no matter which version it is.

Therefore, if you're not a frequent racer and you're more of a daily driver, then there are reasons why one might want a S600 over a S65. A lot of it is up to the person of course.

I'm not sure what you mean by "racer." An S65 is pretty useless on a track and very few of them are dragged, so I guess you mean street racer. And while the occasional impromptu competitive run on the highway can be exhilarating, very few S65 owners would jeopardize everything in doing this very often.

But there is no more fun to be had with your clothes on than is provided by an interstate onramp and an S65. And I do it daily. Multiple even. 738 foot-pounds (or "torques" as the UK automotive press has taken to calling them) trumps all, in my opinion. Of course, my old W220 has 19" wheels and shift buttons (which I agree work fine with smaller finger motions than the paddles), so I guess there are fewer annoyances to trump. Not that I wouldn't take a W221 S65. But I'd never trade my 2006 S65 for a 2008 S600, for instance.

Well if speed is what matters for you, then by all means go with the S65. If your aesthetic taste and driving needs/wants stray away from performance driving, then that would be where a S600 may start to look more appealing. What use is more speed if you don't have enough opportunities to use it? At a certain point it crosses over into "I have more horses than you, waha!" ego-stroking territory.

It's not at all about stroking the ego. Is is all about stroking the part of the brain that enjoys roller coasters. If this isn't for you, I'd argue you don't need an S600 either. An S550 has everything you'd want. For this profile driver (and when I say "you," I mean anyone who doesn't get off on going very fast), I'd argue that an S600 is as much an ego statement. "Look at all my leather and the V-12 that I don't need" is just as ostentious in an S600. I strongly suspect that 90% of S65 drivers are into using the power, at least occasionally, and couldn't give a rat's *** what anybody thinks. What percentage of the public do you think knows the difference between an S550, an S600 and an S65 anyway?
