Down to the wear bars in 7000 miles
I am down to the wear bars on the rear tires at 7000 miles on my 2008 S63.
The car came with Pirelli P Zero 275/35ZR-20 tires for the rears.
Is this possible so soon? I do like to step on the gas pedal.

I'd be thrilled with that kind of mileage.
I get less than 5k out of rear tires, Bridgestone, Michelin, Goodyear ... well maybe the Bridgestone lasted 5,500 miles. The GS-D3's lasted less than 4k but that was in the winter when the compound would spin much more easily on the high friction concrete roads of Dallas.
This set of GS-D3's are on target for maybe 4.5k.
Maybe I should try your brand.

how do you drive?
If it is a HUGE concern for you try a tire with a higher treadwear rating, i'm guessing your current tires are around a 200 rating.
i know MIchelin pilot sport A/S are rated at 400, so they should last about twice as long. but at a price, reduced dry traction.
But seriously 7000 miles, that's average in my opinion.
With my little 300 hp clk 500. i usually get 5000 miles out of a set of tires and i'm talking chords showing.

Tomorrow, I am going shopping for new tires. Have you heard of the Michelin Primacy? I think it is their latest tire.

Got some very nasty vibrations I felt from the rear axle due to tires wearing out, and wearing out unevenly. Problem has not persisted after I changed them, but I did get a scare that the rest of the chasis was knocked out of whack. At the risk of preaching to a much more educated choir on this issue, do not neglect the shape of the rear tires--or all of them for that matter.

Fellas, go with the Michelin Pilot A/S. Treadwear rating is 400, and will last a lot longer than 7K miles. I have had them since 31K on my CLS, I have about 43K on the car now, plenty of tread left. Traction rating is AA, and so is the temp. Excellent grip and all around tire.
Unless you are doing racetrack speeds all the time (which you are not), you are OK.
