anyone have a 55 here :-) need huge favor
To anyone who has a 55: can I ask a huge favor? I'm trying to install the AMG exhaust (i.e. the single original pipe on each side (L+R)) on my w220 and I was told be the dealer I do not need a modified rear skirt. This is IMHO opposite: when you change the exhaust, surely you also have to change the rear skirt/spolier, right? Can anyone perhaps look at their own 55 and let me know or, even better, take a close up picture and post it here? There are some images I Googled but a close up would be better:

Yep, original AMG parts. I believe it was even factory installed with the AMG package.

if im correct...the single exhaust was on the 00-02 55&600 cars and the 03-06 600 had the single exhaust also...if you have the amg sport package you will need a new rear rear skirt...if no amg sport package then you will be fine.

Hi SPrins, so you're saying those were original AMG front, side and rear skirts, too? I guess that explains it: you can install the exhaust only and you'll be OK or you can also do the front, side and rear skirts and in that case the rear will be sort of 'modified' to 'fit' the exhaust, right?

hey dragon...i believe i'm wrong...i saw a 00-02 600, non sport yesterday and the back skirt still had a cut out for the exhaust...looks like in either case, the rear skirt needs to be replaced...sorry about my bad information!

I believe the AMG skirt package comes with or without exhaust cutouts. Some cars (e.g. diesels) can have AMG tupperware but no exhausts.

I'd expect the AMG exhaust to require a cutout in the bumper...

Shaun, AFAICT on the pre-facelift (1999-2003) models the AMG exhaust was single and after the facelift it was a double exhaust, like yours. Nice car by the way, just the way I like it!
