Funny. The true definition of "liberal" (see below) leans toward "tolerant" instead of "intolerant" as is suggested in this thread.
A true liberal woulnd't give a flying f*&k what you drive as long as it makes you happy and doesn't bother others (i.e. laws aren't broken, no-one is hurt).
We shouldn't confuse environmental zealots with liberals.
Besides, the one with a sticker on his car that says something about "unpatriotism" and "gas guzzlers" is forgetting that the people driving gas guzzlers contribute a lot in taxes as they obviously earn more than average (especially when an S65 is involved).
You might argue that the current tax system in the US with its reforms of the last couple of years exempts a lot of rich people from taxes. But now who made these tax reforms?
Just my to €0.02 (=$0.03 j/k )

Yes, I do. Since this sticker is *****ing about gas use, I can only guess it is from a liberal point of view. And, yes, unfortunately there are a lot of "educated" people voting liberal, think of all the college profs. Also, celebs are some of the richest people around, and 99% are liberal. So yes, there are some rich, "educated" (if they really were, they wouldn't believe this crap) people that are voting liberal. And we are the best country in the world, what others did you have in mind?
'Best country in the world' is hard to define - just like 'best car in the world'. The question is: Best in which criteria? If you think the US comes in first in any competition, think again. In human rights, it falls behind virtually any country in western Europe (i.e. Germany). Health care? I don't think we win that competition either..
Germany is a good example - now what can you do/achieve in America and not in Germany? I like and lived in both countries but I don't feel 'special' or 'blessed' that I'm living here now compared to Germany. Each of these nations has its advantages/disadvantages....

This so-called "patriot" at some time in his life probably drove a 1970 Pontiac Bonneville long enough that it would take 100 of those bumper stickers to wrap all the way around it one time and it probably got 11 miles/gallon using fully leaded gasoline at best on the interstate at 55 mph with the air conditioner turned off.

Back on the meds WSH, your hatred and utter contempt for anyone making < $300K per year is showing through again!
Darwinian selection is ultimately healthy for society....would argue the most wasteful carbon footprints are those of people who are economic underachievers, not those of high-achievers who choose to commute via 65....[/QUOTE]

Yes, the sticker is about gas-consumption, but look at it again: Which word is written in bigger letters? 'Gas-guzzler' or 'unpatriotic'? That shows us the target-group of this sticker. And again, liberals don't care too much about being patriotic.

As much as I admire Germany's AMGs, smooth pavement and derestricted AB, I tend to look at what a smart, middle-class kid is likely able to accomplish from, for ex., Munich vs suburban Chicago....where is Germany's Stanford/Wharton?....and where are Germany's SiliconValley-caliber tech cos. and Manhattan/Greenwich-caliber hedge funds?.....robust, creative tech/finance industries can help launch an industrious, smart kid to become a relatively affluent guy (and a lifelong 65-caliber addict) as a 20-something....
The healthcare nonsense you raise is simply nonsense....even US, despite world's wealthiest doctors/pharma cos., etc, only has a lim no. of smart, competent physicians and med ctrs....and, for obvious reasons, most talented physicians choose to live/work in desirable parts of urban regions like NYC/SF/LA/Chic and refuse to accept WalMart-style HMO pmts (e.g., I suspect one is SOL having a heart attack in most of LA region, ex-BH, which is nr Cedars/UCLA and the skilled cardiologists on those faculties or alums in pvt pct nr those med ctrs....and most of the truly talented MDs in these regions just accept one's credit card; ins. is kinda irrelevant; one can settle w/ins co. later and eat non-compensated stuff on own).....I suspect the socialist quacks in EU are about as competent as low-paid, gvt workers globally (allegedly "free" stuff is almost always a fools' game for the masses).....besides, anyone who can afford new AMG S/CL/SL in US should be able to afford competent healthcare; competent hc is a necessity; safe transportation, perhaps a new S550 or a new C300, if truly destitute, is needed (unsafe transport ultimately may negatively affect one's health), but new 65s are fairly discretionary.....

Is it just me, or did this thread head off in a direction that was completely different than the intent of the original post? We can certainly talk about the irony of Utah's S65 parking next to the Subaru with the sticker, or about the sticker itself, but I am not clear how the fact that Algore flew from New York to Tokyo - on a private jet that was empty except for him - just to give a speech on the dangers of global warming, has anything to do with the original intent of the thread. :

I agree that healtcare shouldn't be an issue for anybody driving a luxury car like an AMG - but is that the majority of US-citizens?
But the other poster is correct - I don't think that this question was the purpose of this thread. I think it's fair to say that 99% of the members of this forum would agree that THIS sticker on THAT particular car makes no sense at all..

I live in Sydney, Australia. Benz's here are easily 2-4x as much as they are in the states. I'm 21 years old and drive a 03 w211 E class, everybody hates me because I decided to spend my money on a really nice car because I love Benzs (can I get an AMEN).
The people that complain about gas guzzling cars, luxury cars etc are usually just people that are pissed off because they drive a Toyota Corolla on the way to their job at Burger King because MacDonalds wasn't hiring.
But really gigantic engines aren't about being unpatriotic or patriotic, they are about human engineering and our ability to make things over the top and not just for necessity. I mean the Eiffel tower, wtf does it do. Nothing. But it is a dominant piece of engineering. That is the point of a 450kw 6L V12 Biturbo, it has no point other than to be a testament to how much we dominate.

You have to wonder how he was able to survive riding in POS cars back then as a "penniless 5yo kid" considering his statements today.

No, no pics were ever posted. Taking pics of the car might weaken the structural integrity of the car and he might die making a sharper left hand turn than usual as his POS 5mth old CL63 might flip over.

How an S65 can be safer than an S550 is beyond me, but that is apparently the case on this person's view. If anything, an S65 is, at least theoretically, less safe than an S550, given the added weight--especially in the engine area, in a frontal impact. Also, a car that has twice the power of another, but rolls out of the same assembly line--larger brake rotors shortening braking distances notwithstanding, though they have to stop a much higher weight--is not safer, but rather less safe than the car with the lesser power.
Point in short, we may have to do with a severe case of delusion. It is possible that this guy does not even own an S/CL.
Or, it is possible that we are dealing with a pint-sized poindexter of his said economic achievements, with a major inferiority complex, scared to death of being hurt--hence the ubiquitous safety references--one that is violently tendenced to overcompensate, and has an unshakable need to state of belonging to a certain group.
But I rather think it is the former case. No person of "his" stature has enough free time to post as much on a forum like this; spend countless minutes on parking lots remembering in miniscule detail the trims and options of other poeple's AMGs; and more importantly, it is equally unbelievable that a person this severely deprived of social and soft skills has ever made it this high up the ladder in an area where soft people skills are an absolute must. This guy hits me more as a chronic underachiever who, of passable intelligence, resents where he has ended up.

Naming the categories where the US come in first (or best) and coming to the conclusion that the country is first or best in general is dangerous. Hey, maybe it is - I'm living here as well and I'm doing not too bad - but I'm just a bit careful with general categories like 'best', 'worse', etc.

+1 for the 'former' case. Anyone feeling the need to name check BH/Grnwch/etc in every other sentence is a reporter, not a roller. Am guessing 60's/never married, from the frequent assaults on age and family.

Depspeed: you hit the nail on the head! These liberals are the biggest friggrn hypocrites. It's always "Do as I say, not do as I do" with them. Unfortunately, after this upcoming election they will rule and everybody will suffer. Just wait for the "change" that is coming. The middle class that is empowering them will suffer disproportionately! They cannot comprehend the "change" that is coming.

His posts reek of theoretical [read: ficticious, non-existent] ownership of cars he mentions. His risk- and value-adjustability comments also are highly erroneous and reek of someone who is a wannabe financial professional. His like/dislike comments on new or at-the-time-unreleased models scream pretender status, as the case of him saying that he dislikes SL63 AMG's feel, when he admittedly had not driven it yet--the comment based on past SL comments from other or what reviewers are saying, which is all the more surprising given his claimed disdain for journalists. Well, journalists and other real-experiencers of these vehicles are giving him the vicarious experience he taps on here.
If this dude answers in something that can reasonably convince us of his legitimate status, I will bow to the ignorant and odious comments he makes. if he produces a picture that can materially hint that he has this car, I will shut my mouth. If he provides a car picture, with the letters WSH fingered on the dust over a CL63 (not photoshoped) I hereby promise to stop posting here and give up my membership! A supermember can surely find time to snap a lowly cellular phone pic--he surely has the latest and the greatest--in between his midnight/early morning postings here, so it should not be much to ask for.

Just like I expected, our friend WSH's tantalizing "tongue" has apparently fallen prey of some Darwinian adjustment--just not strong enough to survive when confronted to produce facts to back up the BS.
