ABC high pressure pump bust at 80k miles
When stopping at the next petrolstation (just a couple of 100 yards away) the car is a total lowrider and oil is splattered all over the front bottom of the car, like as if something exploded.
Turns out the high pressure ABC pump (connected to the crank via belt) has gone bust (at the barrage) and needs replacing at €2400 (my guess $2400).
I find that odd for a car with "only" 80.000 miles, but the head mechanic doesn't quite understand my surprise: "moving parts like these break down", so I guess the alternator/waterpump/supercharger/etc. is next?
The huge depreciation is there for a good reason apparently. I'm anxiously waiting for my SL55 to break down like this

In the US that hose was subject to a recall. You Europeans get shafted when manufacturers are allowed to know about major defects and do nothing.
