I am sure my 600 has the same big brakes as the CL65, they certainly
look big. Also the 600 brake pedal has more feel than the 65 brakes which
are slightly soft. But the seats!! my 600 seats in nappa exclusive leather
are definitely THE most comfortable seat I have ever sat in, the 65 seats
were more sporty and slightly harder. I often think I would like a suite of
furniture in my lounge made from exclusive nappa leather.lol.

I have the same issue. I want a 04 s600 and i would take a s55 but it comes down to warrantee. I cannot find an after market warrantee for the 600 I would amagine due to the v12 tt but I can find one for the s55. Anyone have a source on the a 600 warrantee? Dont get me wrong the s55 is a nice ride but I would rather have the 600 with a software mod all day.

I got the 600 and the warranty from chrysler.
After buying the 600 i am glad i went for it in the sedan because its just fast as hell. from 60-120 not sure there are many out there that can hang with this thing. I did go through a set of rear tires in 1700 miles. bald as a baby's a$$. Everyone loves the amg brakes until you have to pay to replace them, then all the negativity comes out. Drive them both and make your choice.
My next move is drag radials and let tuning.

no warranty never own a 600 you will be SHOCKED when you get the bill from the tech and he will always find something else as well. my neighbor is a 16 year tech at local benz dealership and he has steered me away from numerous 600 cars. i love them!!!
the V-12 engine is a fail for Mercedes.

thanks who's QUESTIONING performance of V-12??.... reread what i wrote it's an ISSUE with these cars oil leaks-coil packs-and other engine related issue. no thanks I'd rather listen to a guy who has seen and worked on them for the past 15 years there is a reason why they don't hold VALUE once out of warranty.

NONE, that's right NONE of those listed in your sig are remotely even close to being as reliable as the MB V-12.
Have a nice day my friend.
You crack me up
Okay sorry the S500 is, why, because its another MB
PS: SHow me ANY over priced European car that DOES hold its vaule. It certainly is NOT a Masseratti

OK move on- whatever makes you feel good brotha it's called an opinion that's why it's an internet forum to share advice! please don't make any of your attacks on vehicles you know ZERO about. What are your credentials again on being a BENZ expert? are you a tech for Mercedes-Lamborghini-Maserati?
Are you real trying to win an internet posting war?? I love Benz and have had numerous AMG cars over the years and would love the V-12 but have taken the advice from someone who does deal with these 600's weekly. I will continue to seek his EXPERT advice on what I DD as well as the other techs I've spoken with about the V12. I wish you the continued passion and luck you've obviously had with your car.

as an outside observer, neither one of you seems like "friends" or "brothas". I've heard varied opinions, but I would venture if you want reliable, you'd buy a honda or dare I say a toyota (lexus) as long as your priority was not on stopping. lamborghini's and Masers are not known for their reliability. And there is enough stuff going on under the tt benzo's hood that its a matter of time before stuff needs fixing. Calling it a fail is kinda extreme. The S500 does have just about the most reliable benz motor made not counting the old diesels and straight sixes. It seems a hair out of place with your other selection of cars...an ol' benz with all of that new, exotic iron?

Mercedes S55 AMG
I saw a 2006 S65 in person the other day, man..those brakes are pure amazing. The car also has a presence that surpasses that of the S600, imo.
It's almost like it is saying "Here I am, big and bad, with a huge engine under the hood - huge brakes too. You probably won't be able to get too much traction, but once in a while when it hooks you know it will mean business!"
Any way, S55, S65, S600 - all beautiful cars. Can't go wrong with them. It's really a matter of how much you want to spend (S65 is more) vs what you are looking for in a car, i.e take a test drive and know your preferences.
Maintenance wise, the Mercedes V12 engines are also well made, they are far from poor from what I've seen. I think the V8's are a bit less complicated overall, but I would never disregard the V12's which are also strong engines.

I can't believe this thread has been going so long.
I now have a desicion to make. My 600 is 2004, and there is a S55 AMG
nearly 3 years newer for sale, with MB extended warranty. It's a family car but I do like the power of my 600. On paper there is nothing in it, more torque
from the 600 but 0-60 etc similar. I like the idea of AMG exhaust and body kit,
but how does the 55 ride. As far as room the S55 Advertised is long wheel base, so it;s sporty versus luxury I suppose. The S55 is 180 mile journey to
see, but if it starts with that lovely growl ( my 600 is silent) it might just
pursuade me. Also the S55 has lower mileage, and my S600 could have any of the usual expensive things go wrong.
Desicions! Desicions!
