Numbers are quite strong none the less, that's a powerchip tune and 3.5 inch exhaust. You can't beat the V12 TT for ease of making power with such simple mods.

What exhaust parts do you remove and/or keep from the stock exhaust?
Or do you just run straight pipes to the mufflers.
.........And the car sounds very mean. Impressive job.

Chris,

Thanks for the kind words, glad you like what you see and hear!

This system was a turbo-back setup that deleted everything OEM. We ran straight pipes into an X-Pipe then a Muffler setup maintaining stock AMG Tips.

On a few SL's we have run a 3.5inch turbo-back setup that deleted cats and while utilizing an X-Pipe connects to the stock rear section. We've seen great results with both systems especially when paired up with a tune but I would have to say that this system definitely sounds a bit more mean.

Great work on the exhaust but that is a serious choke point from the magnaflows to the stock dual tips. That might be the reason for the high torgue numbers. Restriction in the turbo exhaust = more torgue Less restriction in the turbo exhaust = more hp.

that's true..magnaflow gonna be **** once they see fluidmotorunion stamp on that muffler..

MAGNAFLOW MUFFLERS KILLED IT..

Actually I really like the use of magnaflows. They really changed the sound on a rx7 project I did years ago. Top notch quality. I built a 3 inch setup using a borla xr-1 as the mid pipe collector instead of a cat and connected it to a corksport racing catback and it changed the sound. I might have to build one of my own for my 600.
Great work again fluidmotorunion.

I did a straight exhaust on my CL600cat back magnaflow x pipe...sounded perrrrfect. Why waste money on mufflers? Idle it was low db...very surprising. Just picked up an 06 s65 and will repeat. Keep you guys posted.

BUT that stainless with custom x is sweet work. It really looks awesome. Great welds that didnt look like they had been cleaned up...just great welds to begin with. Someone did a great job. I would be interested in a quote for a straight turbo back with high flow cats and x pipe no mufflers...I can weld the stock tips back on myself. Make it worth my time saved and you can fab it instead of me

Bravo!! Bravo!!

+1 all comments re: excellent work.

I think the design accounts for the torque numbers. First, on this engine, they are insane to begin with. But the custom X, catless design, WITH added restriction at the tips, is sure to keep the torque numbers high, just the way you want when increasing pipe size.

Question for this group is, I thought the 65s and the 55s in the w220 and w221 cars shared the same trans. And I didn't really remember the capacity being that high, probably because AMG insists on expressing such in Nm instead of lb. ft.

Am I misremembering? Anyone have any data on this?

Cheers,

maw
