Hey everyone, I'm looking at picking this car up from auction but i'm not local to the car. The auction says its a 2005 S500 but the car emblem's show its a S55 AMG... after looking at the pics the rims arent stamped AMG there is no fender badge and the engine cover looks like a NA cover not the normal AMG cover, it also doesnt have on the steering wheel the + or - for the quick shift, it also has a front emblem in the grille which i thought started on later models. I have the 1st 11 of the vin but not sure that would pull up anything. I'm just trying to figure out if this is an actual AMG or a fake...I will post up some pics please let me know.
no amg. you can tell by in 03and up they have superchargers, the seats will say amg on the seats in the front, the instrument cluster will say v8 kompressor in it and the calipers are massive silver calipers and rotors are much bigger. i would say its an imposter theres a lot of other ways too but those are the main features you can see
The other way to tell is that the instrument panel will have AMG on it and the exhaust should be a dual tips on each side. You are also missing the AMG engine cover with the engineer's signature in the middle of it. Nice looking vehicle, but no AMG original....
awesome thanks guys, another member on here said that its just a S500 with the AMG sport option so what ive been able to gather it would be a amg but not s.c. and just 302 hp any truth to that idea?

Not AMG but S500 with sports package (AMG body panels). No dual exhaust, front grill is aftermarket, star in grill is on coupes only.
AMG is in the engine, handling, interior .. it's standard for Benz to offer the body styling, but that does not make it AMG in anyway ..
