Talking Test Drive of 03 S55

hey everyone,

i test drove a brand new S55 today......................UNREAL!!!!!!!!
what a car. this car would smoke my 02 S55 like it was a honda civic with only 3 wheels! the power was incredible. all i can say is that anyone who purchases one of these new Kompressors is in for a real treat.

one question though....what are the indicators protruding from the dash by the windshield??

2000 740iL, soon 03 S55
which indicators are you talking about?

The power is unreal. I don't have to downshift to leave cars in the dust.

I was shocked to see a 02 M5 come up in my rear, looking like a real challenge but then he backed off and hit the slow lane. what a whimp.

It's funny I had more people challenge me with my 740, now people don't even bother, they just gawk!

Take a look in your rear view mirror when you reverse as well The reverse parktronics are also very discreet. In fact the only LCDs the passenger does notice out of the four is the one to the right hand side of the driver.

My Wheels Are Spinning!!!

hey everyone,

after that test drive i had to go home and take a cold shower. i love my 02.....it only has 4000 miles on it, but i have to admit.....03 03 03 03!!!!! I keep thinking
when should i make my move!
i'm not sure if any of you caught the article in Automobile about the new E55 vs M5 , RS6 , and the HO Jag. well the M5 won the comparison. initiallly i thought what????? well i thought maybe the E55 didn't have the power like the numbers indicated. after driving the new
S55 i realize....they most be smoking crack at Autombile. These new engines are a force to be reckoned with!!!....hey...i'm living proof...after the test drive i had to go to the local emergency room to have my ********* removed from my kidneys!!!!

Too Young To Drive
Post

While the M5 did dominante the comparison test, its ultimately down to its superior handling and driver engagement qualities. As Car And Driver have mentioned, "Computers actually drive the E55", which is perhaps the main reason why Automobile gave the M5 that thumbs up.

Yes, the new AMG engines have got serious grunt, but the cars themselves seem too docile, travelling at 155MPH seems more of a cerebral, rather than a fist clinching experience. Although subjective, Automobile's decision does make sense - most people buy cars in this league for the thrill of it, however, that is purely a subjective matter.

Thanks for the info. I hope I get the same response when the new car arrives. Anyone driven the 03 600?

Trade in your 02 and get the 03 or place an order for an 04. I think it is well worth cost.

WOW

I haven't driven one of the new V8 Kompressor cars yet. I can't wait, it sounds awesome!

FC Corp asks about the '03 S600. We have one here that was just traded in (yes already, the owner goes through about 20 cars a year). I will try to take it out for a ride today and give some impressions.

Yes, it's for sale and can be shipped immediately. If anyone is interested E mail or PM me.

I wish he was my customer!

That's only 20 Mercedes a year.

We currently have a Hummer H2 that he traded (3,000 miles) and a G500 that he is finished with (2,000 miles) as well as his S600.
We recently resold his SL55 (dropped that off when the S600 came in) and I think he is going to take the silver S55 for a few weeks. So next month I will have a "used" '03 S55 with a couple thousand miles on it.

One of his drivers said he bought 60 cars one year. Yes, it's his addiction. And yes I wish he was my customer.

Thumbs down Sorry dude, no dinner

He has lots of help driving, everyone in his family gets a few cars to drive. Daughters have matching ML500s to take to prep school, etc.

FC corp, It's always about the dinner, huh?
If his salesman retires and I can adopt him I'll take everyone on the MBworld forum to dinner!

Uh-Oh, just put that in writing didn't I?

Did he return the Silver S55 yet? I may be interested

What is the ballpark lease and what would you give me for my '01 E55 with 17k miles? I have a lease through Feb 04.

I am in NY and am serious.

Thanks.

Alz,

If you have a lease, you have to settle the tab with your current bank. One option you have is if money is no object, Mercedes will pay off your current tab, and add that figure to the sales price of the new car. I have a lease now, and the only option is to find someone to "assign" the lease to, assuming your bank will let you. Otherwise, if you have someone that will make the payments, you are taking a risk he/she bails out.

Let me know if you have questions.

I know I am upside down, but i can "sell" it back to the dealer

They usually give me a break to take another car. So if it would cost me a few thousand dollares to to buy myself out of the lease, then it may be worth it.

True. Bottom line, there is alwasys a hit. If money is no object, go for it!

I just wanted to give some advice, as I have been down that road. Good luck!
