snow tires 09 s63
Looking for advice on which snow tires to use on an 09 s63. Also curious if others have used this car in northeast winters with snows and how it did. thanks in advance

The Bobek's look very close - I have the 030 package as well. In terms of snow performance you're objective is to decrease the contact footprint and 19"'s are the way to go, yeah the wheel well will not look as full but the car will completely functional. I use my car as a daily drive in and out of the City from Westchester and have have 0 problem. This setup was the recommendation when I spoke to Luke at Tirerack 2 yrs ago. I have always gone with his suggestions (E55 and CLK 430 before that).

Seems like PanameraTurbo has 20" Pirelli Sottozero Series II winter tires, esp spec'd for the 20" wheels needed to fit around PCCB brakes
Suspect can run S63/65 on 20" winter tires on 030 wheels as well; may want to investigate further to avoid non-factory spec wheels (with unknown deformation resistance vs NYC potholes, etc)
Also, IIRC, in EU, S63/65 have factory-spec 19" wheels as std; may be a stronger (and more attractive) winter wheel choice vs non-factory spec, if one prefers 19" winter tires

I spoke at length to somebody that is somewhat of an expert on tires. I know everybody has there own opinion but if I want to stick with stock OEM wheels this person thought around here I would be better off with a micheline all season tire pilot sport a/s as they will do much better in colder temperatures and will handle much better 95% of the time when its dry. This person thought if the car will only be used for the occasional light snow we get around here that I would be giving up too much performance 99% of the time by using dedicated snow tires. Just 1 person's view, clearly if they thought I was going to try and take the car on ski trips he would have a different views

I recommend Dunlop snow tires. I bought it for my 600 this past year and it gave me great handling and traction, much better than my summer tires. Only problem was they are directional, so reversing can be a pain in light/heavy snow. Great in rain too... saved my life once.
