Anyone lower their 65s? If so with what kit?

I lowered my E55 for about $400 via a local tuner. I was told that the MBenz STAR diagnostic tool will lower your car but it will reset after a few cycles. Anyone know if there is truth to that?

What other kits are out there? I have alot of wheel gap and it looks bad, just want to drop the car 3/4th of an inch in front/back.

thanks

Possibly look into a kit that's made for the SL65?

Links are the way to go. Set em once and your good. Will not ever change. Make the vehicle have what ever stance you like. Can always return it back to stock and sell the kit when done.

Gimme a call anytime.

if done properly by a MBTech, you can successfully lower your s63/65 via STAR. my s63 is lowered via STAR.

and yes, initially the car did go back to stock height many times after it was lowered within 5 minutes. however the tech figured out how to do it properly and havent had a problem with it since.

Bump - Any response from 'hubitubi'? I'm getting ready to lower my S55 using STAR Diag and would like to get it right the first time.
Cheers,
Jeff

+1 on the Renntech V3. It is speed sensitive, so while your driving it goes back to stock height. You don't need to get the suspension realigned. You can also set it back to stock when you need to take the car to the dealer.

I lowered my S65 AMG with Star Diag this time around.

I used to have the RENNtech V2 lowering module on my S500 and S600 and it was great!

The Star Diag method let me lower it to this height:

Renntech v3 with remote is slick. I like mine except for the fact that it fails to raise the car when driving... so check compatibility before you buy if you plan on using this feature.

Sorry to hear it doesn't work on a 06. The primary enhancement of the V3 module is the speed sensitive height adjustment. I'm parinoid about scratching my front bumper on parking lot and driveway ramps. The SL AMG front bumper is pretty low at stock height. But the gap in the wheel arches is too much. Once you lower the car to eliminate the gap the front bumper is too low for everyday driving. So I've set mine to raise the car at 1 mph. Essentialy the car is at stock height except for when its at rest. Every time I stop at a stop light you can feel the car squat down.

I've asked Renntech to consider modifying the unit to disable it if the console height adjustment buttons are pressed. My feeling is that if I press the console button to raise the car it should raise relative to stock, not the lowered height. That way I get maximum clearance. The 1mph trick is the next best thing.

When I had my E55, I did it following this thread. Worked perfect. I can't imagine it would be that much different on a S65, although I could be wrong. Worth a try...

2018 S63, lowered
I've never understood why people choose to go with renntech, star, etc and deal with all the trials and tribulations of the software. I've used the links from adjustable air ride for both of my 65s......they take 20-30min to install and require a floor jack and a pair of pliers....that's all. They're fully adjustable, they're cheap, a joke to install, and you can raise the car back up to stock height with a press of the factory "raise" button on the dash. Why wouldn't you use the links? Maybe I'm missing something, but to me the links are a complete no brainer, but to each their own.

where can "links" be aquired for a 2008 s63 ? i really like where bysa196's coming from, it makes so much sense to spend much less money and use that towards wheels, ecu or some other more impacting mod

i did and found some for my S63 for $299. the only problem is the vendor is asking if I have "ABC" or not, so how do I determine what that means and if I have it on my car?

confirmed. nothing a simple owner's manual won't tell you. for others, who didn't know, when the car is parked, it lowers itself 5mm automatically. the latter applies to all 2008 amg s63's & s65's
