with only 420 built....and what they offer I am surprised they have lost the value...I always say....if more people knew about them then there would not be any for sale

And even at 60-70k miles these cars when kept well are basically as they were when they were sold new....they are very well built...mine has 61k miles still smells new inside and runs like a new car....I haven't put a warranty on it and I will not .....I am that confident the car will have less issues then what the warranty will cost in the long run...I have owned a lot of them and they are very dependable when driven and have problems when not driven....infact I also just got a 2004 S55 with 125k miles...wow...the car looks and drives like a 20k mile car.......I have asked 3 people that I let look at the car ...friends who own lots of cars....I asked them how many miles do you think the car has? And they all said they must be really low because of the condition and how it drives...when I mentioned the car has 125k miles they now have a much greater respect for Mercedes

Thanks, Alex. I think that's partly a function of the fact that not many were manufactured in '06 (the number I've seen is 429, I think). Given how these cars can be tuned to produce S65 type numbers (e.g., Renntech), without the complication or weight of a V12 or twin turbos, I think the S55 is the real steal to be had. But I know reasonable minds can differ there. Thanks again for the numbers, though.
