Have a '08 S63 AMG and would like to do the hood badge and front grill change. Is there a specific grill I should be using, CLS? re: big star, if so is there a preffered supplier? Are the aftermarket items as good a quality as the OE items? New to all this so please be patient, your help will be appreciated.

Rgds,
Ray

I know you didn't ask this, but I always like the stock S63 grill look..I never like it when cars like that get the grill with the star. It makes it looks sort of out of place, even for an S63.

I agree, both have their good points. I can't say I dislike either one of the trim configurations. I do like the clean look of the flush star on the coupe version of my car. I was actually loking for a coupe but as things worked out ended up with the 4 door. So I thought I'd give it a try and see which I liked better, pretty easy and not too expensive to do, and redo if need be. Although it is handy to have that star sticking up to see where the end of the car is. A big change for me as I moved from a Porsche Gt3 to the S63. Driving the MB is like driving the Porsche from the back seat. Whole other discussion.

Porsche Gt3 is an amazing car - I guess you feel a part of it when you drive it, whereas with the S63, it's a different feeling definitely.

What else do you feel about the S63? Do you feel it is quick enough?

Quick enough? Well I guess depends what you're looking for. As for me, I was getting tired of the work and effort required to drive the car at any where near it's capacity. Driving the GT3 was an act of faith, always wanting to push it closer and closer to the edge. No fun to drive 2-3 hours to the track. It was a relief to get where I was going and roll out of the car and relax. Car is always demanding, which is why some people like it. Bottom line is I'm just getting too old to appreciate it and I've been driving racing type cars most of my life. The E63 is satisfying in that if I would need the power I know it's there but it's not in my face all the time. The car treats you with respect as if you matter more than the car does. The MB I enjoy driving and is so comfortalbe and a nice place to be I hate to get out of it. I still find it hard to believe that driving a car can be such a pleasant experience.
Quick enough, certainly, for me is. and certainly not an embarassment to find myself in on a nice twisty country road. Pleasant and fun, what else could you ask?
