VRP Performance Pulley Kit 175MM (SL55)

VRP Performance Pulley Kit 175MM (SL55)
I have a brand new,never installed,175MM VRP pulley.(purchased for my 2004 SL55)

It is the 2 piece version.Kit has crank pulley, alternater pulley, and crank bolt.

I am afraid to install it,since the installation may void my warranty.

Cost over $1200.I will sell for $750,(before I change my mind & install it) .

VRP claims 465rwhp and 512rwtq for their VR550, which consists of a pulley + ECU tune. If an 18% drivetrain loss that would equate to 567 hp and 624 ft lbs tq.

Pulley alone will increase boost by 3 #.

Sounds like you have a great new ride.

It's poor etiquette to crap on another forum member's for sale thread. The man has a VRP pulley and is representing it truthfully and honestly. It's not like he's claiming his pulley is something that its not.

On top of that although the company VRP did not succeed its founder, Victor Ruscitto, was one of the earliest 55K engine modders and a terrific contributor to this forum. Just do a search for VRUS sometime and see all the great information that pops up.

More than a few people around here VRP parts in their cars and are running them happily. As an example, 3 of the 5 fastest SL55s on Dragtimes are running VRP parts.

Agreed! Also, the VRP pulley is madeby BHJ Dynamics which is a huge manufacture of pulley's and harmonic balancers. The VRP kit itcludes an SFI approved harmonic balancer made specific by BHJ. It's as solid or better then OEM.

1)Would i have to do any other mods if i used this set up? Cooling for instance.
2)Is an ecu tune mandatory for this setup or not necessary?

With a 175 pulley kit, cooling (such as a heat exchanger) is not something you need, however these motors/blowers are known for heat soak. Tuning however is what you definetly need unless you wanna blow your motor.

I would like to thank everyone that has provided valuable info about my VRP pulley kit.

I purchased a new Gates belt # K080514 to go with the kit.I somehow misplaced the one that came with the kit.

You guy would probably know this, particularly Viet. How big of a pulley can I install on a w220 S55 WITHOUT needing an ECU tune? Thanks in advance.

A tune is always recommended with a pulley, however I would say you could probably get away with running 168mm max..
