Were you the owner of 2009 S65 Coral Gables?

I'm looking at a car for sale right now, and I'm trying to get some background information from the original owner. It's a designo mystic white 2009 S65 with 9,683 miles purchased originally from MB Coral Gables. It was a lemon law buyback for a faulty SRS light. If you are the owner, or know who is, can you please shoot me a PM? Very much appreciated, thanks.

i would be very hesitant about buying that car. there is a reason why mb lemoned it.
otherwise you can never go wrong with a white car

I don't worry about buying a lemoned car with 3 years of warranty left. If you stay on it, it will get fixed. It's a little bit of a headache, but you can save big by going this route. I bought a lemoned M5 years ago for a steal...spent about a month making sure all the bugs were fixed, and then enjoyed it trouble free for 3 years before I sold it. I think you're right though for guys who don't have the time/patience to get everything squared away.

Car Whore
Anything related to SRS is auto-lemoned... so it might still be a good deal.

I SAW AND sat in that car at the auction...

Excellent car...BUYBACKS are fine...I have owned a few...only downside is resale....some ignorant buyers look at it like it has a rebuilt title ....

Either way the manufacturer warranty is just as good as buying one without a lemon law...personally dollar for dollar I would buy a lemon law car over a non anyday.....but only on the lowest side of the depreciation scale...Some people see it differently....I dont keep cars long enough to spend a ton of money on them just to own one...

It sold at auction for $116000 with fees.....(they paid too much)when you can get a nice 2007 for $80k...I would not buy this car....unless you like to take another $40k hit in the next year...

Oh and a SL65 black series lemon law sold for $173k with 2k miles at the same auction....

It's funny how they describe the S65... "It is equipped with a DOHC AMG 32V V8 engine"

I haul cars in an enclosed trailer for a living, and picked up what appeared to be a brand new ML350 from the Vehicle Processing Center in Carson, CA and took it up to the auction in Las Vegas. I asked the guy at MB why they were auctioning it off, and he said that it was a buy-back. Don't know the whole story, but somehow the car was started when it was delivered to the original dealer and there was no oil in the engine. It seized, of course, and MB put a new engine in it, but didn't want to sell it through one of their dealers.

It's on eBay now. The car looks great, but something is strange about the way it's sitting. Does it look too high to anyone else? Like the suspension isn't quite right. Or maybe it was lowered, and when they tried to put it back to normal, they overshot? Something just doesn't seem right to my eyes.

It may be cheap now, but wouldn't the depreciation/trade in #s be disastrous when you want to sell?

Nothing is wrong with the suspension. It's just in the raised position.

If you look at this image, you can see the button for raising the car is lit:

It's a beautiful car.

Something on 4 wheels..
Ha, I noticed that car on autotrader as well. The other one offered, a silver one, was just reduced to $129K as well. It has 14K miles but is not a lemon.

I might get a 2009 S65 around Christmas 2011 - if the the price drops below $100K...

The silver one from straighlineautomotive is a lemon law car as well. I think there are only 2 used 2009s available...both lemon lawed.

Oh, you're right. I overlooked that.

Hmm, in that case, the designo is the better offer right now. Only 10K miles and, well, designo..

I guess the reason that there are only 2 used ones available is the fact that they are still quite new. That number should increase over time.
