Any Proven Recipes to run in the 10's?

Im looking to see if there is any proven recipes (mod combo's) to get an 06 S65 into the 10's? The wife wants to race the S65 in the next Pinks event and I figure if we can get the car into the hi-mid tens we might have a chance. I know some people run mid 11's pretty easily stock on engine with good tires! Also, whats the best rim and tire combo for running at the track? Im thinking slicks but what size, brand, and which rims do you use. Thanks!

I'm not sure what to tell you about getting into the 10's but I would check out CCW drag rims with Mickey Thompsons...usually they come in 16"...

Some of the more knowledgeable track guys will eventually chime so be patient...from my limited knowledge I would venture to guess that:

1. Decrease unsprung weight and overall weight as best you can...
2. ECU and or TCU tune
3. Nitrous?
4. Drag rims/radials

Only problem with a pinks event is that they are very strict about roll bar rules and such. If your car runs faster than 11.49 without a cage, they will not let you run. It happened to a Mustang Cobra running mid 10's a couple seasons ago that made the final 16 but was disqualified after a competitor cried foul about the lack of proper safety equipment. Run 11.50 and you are fine unless you plan on hacking up your fine machine with a cage.

I would love to argue that our S class sedans are safer than a '69 Nova with a rusty cage with crappy welds. Don't the many air bags that are in the S class help with these IHRA/NHRA rules concerning safety and speed? I think that the cutoff should be 9.99 and 140mph for a cage absolutely if the car has the factory safety equipment.

If Pinks forces people to follow NHRA rules, Stephen is right on, 11.49 requires a roll bar. There is no way...ever...NHRA will allow a car run 9.99 without additional safety equipment.

Just fine a less strick track or have some fun 'till you get booted

Easiest way to get into 10s? Find some 18" drag radials and spray the car - use a progressive controller and just layer on the power once hooked.

My car runs 10.70's in circles with the SpeeDriven ECU/TCU and Intercoolers with catless X-pipe. No nitrous. www.Speedriven.com

I doubt any W221 S65s can hit the 10s given the added weight over the older models without running NOS
