Exactly. They did not import the non-L models to the US.

I'd love me a shorty S65 AMG like Sprins' S55...

The V12 models are all L worldwide. The short version only goes up to V8. So that shorty S65 will be an engine swap job for the advanced mechanic...

Uh yes.. All post 2002/3 S600's are 5.5L twin turbo-charged. The NA 5.8L engine in the earlier S220's was dropped at that point.

'94 SL600,'05 SL600,'06 S65,'07 E63,'14 E63S,'09SL600 all sold, ‘15 S65,‘18 E63S,'17 SL65, '17S65Cab
It is true that all US delivery W220 S430,500,55,600 and 65's were LWB models. In 2006 only the SWB S350 was sold in the US.

Quadrobenz is correct, all W220's exported to the US market are the long wheelbase version, with one exception being the S350 in one year. The SWB cars look weird and stand out due to unusual size.

The short wheel base car look weird, the LWB is what you wanted, I thought.
