Who has the best 1/4 ET with a S55?

Just wondering who has the quickest 1/4 slip for a S55? Dragtimes shows the the quickest being an 11.921 @ 116. Does anyone know of a quicker one? I ask because I'm interested in beating the current record... Thanks.

I just bought the car this past Thursday... I have a Eurocharged 180mm kit and custom tune and BMC filters on the way. CM30 and phenolic spacers after, resonator/rear cat delete to come shortly after that. Then last I'll do headers, CF intake box, 82MM TB and a final tune with some DR's. This should get me to my goal of 11.5's and under. I'd really like to get it into the 10's without putting the car on an extreme diet but we'll see.

Will be doing a build thread along with baseline dyno and track times in the next few weeks...

Vehicle weight might hold you back, both figuratively and literally. Good luck! Hope you are successful!!

According to Motor Trend the S55 curb weight is 4300ibs, the SL55's curb weight is 4235ibs. If I get rid of the spare and tools I should be able to get it pretty close.

What kind of power do you make to get to your 11.4's?

You are going to want to add a heat exchanger for your intercooler. Especially with that 180 pulley.

The S55 comes with twin heat exchangers from the factory unlike any other 55K setup. Hopefully they do their job. If not it will be on my to do list.

I haven't been on a dyno in a while but the car probably makes around 650 HP. The one mod not on your list is a camshaft upgrade. With it and the rest of your mods you car could be pushing 700 HP, which would be nice and strong.

My car weighs 4,340 lbs with 1/2 tank of gas. It probably weighed a little heavier than that when I ran 11.4 (travel luggage in the trunk) but I also had a negative air density day to offset the extra weight.

If your car weighs around 4,300 dry then with a good track and a good air density day you'll be in good position to hit the numbers you want.

Again, good luck and let us know how it goes!

So now I'm curious as to why this set up is on the S and not the SL or E. Certainly not to reduce heat soak run after run at the local drag strip. Maybe for hauling 5 adults and a trunk full of luggage at 200 KPH on the Autobahn.

haha s-class isn't used for hauling luggages in the trunk, only dead bodies... HAHA

on the serious note, i've always wondered that as well... I'm not sure as to why it is only available in the s-platform. But honestly the most logical explanation would be engine bay space! If you compare engine bays of all the different platform its obvious the s-class has a LOT more room!

So that'll be my guess... haha

Thanks much for the reply. I'll be sure to get an actual weight with me in it before I pull anything out of it. I really want to get all the details right so I can hold the quickest W220 S55 record without any doubt.

Thanks! I may be interested but unfortunately my job has me traveling often. Shoot me some info if you wouldn't mind.

Your competition will be Shangoashe, I believe he's at 12.0x with street tires but I'm not 100% sure. If you don't mind me asking where are you from? As you know, which I'm sure you do, location and elevation will be key in achieving your goals.

I would be great if we got you to Famoso to race Shangoashe, that would be awesome! We'll have some very fast MB's at this event, which includes 55's and 63's. Good luck with your build and keep us posted.

LOL. My bad! DFW is the Dallas Ft. Worth area. It's essentially central Texas. I mapped directions to Famoso and it looks like a 23-24 hour drive! I'm not sure I'm up for that much driving. lol. I may make a road trip out of it but we'll see how my mods come along. Thanks for the info though!
