Car getting key'd
Hi all,
Has anyone had car key'd and required entire car to be painted, include removal of bumpers? Assuming done by top shop, how much?
Thx.

It depends on how many panels were hit, but I'd guess you will see estimates that start at 6 and go up. I think it's 10k for factory grade paint.

Many years back, my M5 got keyed 5 days after I bought it. They keyed every single panel all the way around the car. It cost about $5k to repaint, and I made sure it was repaired by the best company in the area...even though it was a bit more expensive. They did an amazing job, and 7 years later, the paint still looks like new. Another car I owned had the front bumper painted, and I decided to take the cheap way out. What a nightmare. Paint started bubbling and peeling within a month. They repainted the bumper three times over the course of a year, and they never were able to make it look right. Do NOT try to find the cheap way out, or you'll regret it.
I'm not sure if your area allows for diminished value claims, but you should check into that as well.

Yea, some places have crazy prices. The guy that I go to has been doing all my work for a while now. Not just paint but mechanical and body work also. I guess that factors into the prices he give me also. Here are a few pics of the passenger side after it was painted. He has also painted both bumpers, side skirts, hood, calipers, and roof.
