2007-08 S65 Offer Prices

3 years ago when I bought my 2005 E55, I walked out with a deal. KBB was $62k and after 100 days of sitting on the lot, I bought it for $43K in Jan 2008.

Most asking prices for 07-08's range between $80-90k ballpark. What do you think is a fair reasonable offer price? $65k, $70k, $75k. I'd buy one with 40k> miles for $65k in a heartbeat.

Do you think the prices will plummet once the S550 BiTurbo and S63 BiTurbo model reach decent inventory?

I'm in no rush but I would like to time a purchase sometime in the next 6 months or less. I'd hate to purchase one now for $70k and then have the street price drop to $50k in 6 months.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I'm pretty interested in this S65. If I made an offer, what do you think is fair?

The s65's are all out of my price range so maybe I can offer a subjective opioion...that car is gorgeous and it is obvoiusly at a top rate dealer due to the Ferrari's in the background..that may hurt the price negitiations due to their already sky-high overhead...they can afford to wait on more money. The miles appear to be average for a 2007, have you seen the car in person? I wouldnt offer that kind of money without driving it or seeing it on a lift...but, if it all checked out, why not offer $75K and see if they take it?
I did the same when buying my 2005 designo S55 and got it for $25K.
Who cares what the vales are going to do in the next five years unless you plan to turn it over soon.
I plan on keeping mine for the next 20 years....just like my other "special" benz.
My 2 cents.
Mike

You say that but $40k/yr in depreciation is probably fair for the 65s and 600s...'07 S65s are in the region of $80k today

I think I'll play this out to summer and wait to see what happens when S550 and S63 BiTurbo models hit floors. Gut feeling tells me value on these cars will drop quickly. I'll keep watching and see what happens however, they haven't dropped much in the past 6-9 months so they might not drop anymore either. We'll see. Thanks for feedback!

A friend just bought a 2007 S65 and it is a BEAUTIFUL car. The only thing is there are sooo many little things that need attention, including his upgraded/larger wheels which are awesome but also softer than stock and often bend. The link above has nice wheels, but depending on where you are, you may want to avoid them. I just got a CLK55 from east coast and now I KNOW why people prefer CA or AZ cars for as there's definitely less wear-tear on the cars, including the wheels and tires. As example, the Continental tires treads were fine but they all had small cracks in them. Also, one of the wheels had a small hairline crack. Again, most of these little things you probably won't know until later...so better to be safe.

P.S. I think the S55 Designo is a GREAT car - I would have bought that over S600(maybe) if I was able to find one. Otherwise, I'm thinking in 3-4 yrs, getting a 2008 S63(pretty nice inside) or a 2011 S63 with the twin turbo - it'll probably get decent gas mileage and still be plenty powerful for me.
