Salvaged S65 w 7k miles in FL
How much would you pay for this? Seller claims there was no frame damage and due to relationship with the insurance company the original got it classified as salvage. Repair has been done with OEM parts.

However, it is also listed in Argentina! Scam?

I saw this on AutoTrader, too, so it's probably a scam. Nevertheless, you should never purchase a salvaged car. It's better off to search for a clean car.

I've seen this car in person. When I saw it, I was not aware of the salvage title issue so I didn't really pay attention to specifics when inspecting the car which is really naive of me to do so but I was too excited to see an S65 up close. The only thing that stood out to me that was a bit off was the glove box which is a bit loose but i guess that is an easy fix. Other than that, the car seemed perfect, still had that new S-Class smell we all love, well atleast me haha.

Keep looking amigo...I just **stole** an 06 @ $36K 50K miles. FLAWLESS. I am upset at the mileage but I figure the next ride will be the new body style and every mechanic says the engines are bullet proof so no worries.... slavage=problems unless you have a very clear explanation backed with receipts. good luck

Thanks for the kind words guys. My budget is for a S55 or S600 but would love to get a S65 if I can "steal" one. In daily driving scenario I will probably not see the difference between the performance of these 3 supercars but I like the AMG exterior and the V12 interiors

I would run far away also, very seldom you get cars that have been salvaged just because of hail damage or something similar to that, but not worth the risk.

Mercedes S55 AMG
I'd also stay away. If it was 29k, maybe it'd be a better idea, but at 39k you can find another example with a bit more miles, but clean.
These cars are very low right now, and do remember to get a warranty as they are not cheap to fix, ABC, and other complicated things reigning here.
If you have not done to already, please do take a test drive of each of the cars you are considering. You will find that the S55, S600, and S65 all have very different driving characteristics.
I've driven them, and let me give you my opinion. Obviously on the surface, the most attractive is the S65 - AMG and prestigious V12, nice brakes, and on paper the fastest. In the real world though, I find the S55 more fun - the blown V8 is more explosive and a bit more aggressive. The S65 is very smooth, and while fast, the exhaust is quiet and you don't get a big dramatic experience. If that is what you want, then that's fine - but I do find the S55 a bit more exciting. The S600 lacks the AMG aura, but it's still fast and smooth, almost a mini-S65. (And can be as fast if tuned.) I still prefer the S55, though. More of a muscle car feel. Also it can be tricky to really hook up with the S65 due to all that torque, I found the S55 to have a bit more nimbler and immediate response. Having said that though, the allure of the S65 is still great - if the quiet smooth speed suits you more than the muscular S55 and you can fit it in your budget, it's a bargain for a near-supercar.

rondocap and others- I have read most of your posts on these forums and recognize all your nicknames
Unfortunately in Seattle it is hard to find these cars for sale/test drive so I would have to go on your opinions. I figure a S65 will hold its value for a long time and if I can get a good deal on it close to S55 price levels it would be good. The seller claims to have details of all the work done to the car and the insurance details of the damage done. He dropped the price to 35 and I am guessing might go lower once it stays on the market for a while.
(If I had 35ish grand I would probably go for pacman's S65 with Renntech)

Beautiful car there. Too bad its salvage. To be honest I would not pay anything over $25k for that thing considering your more then likley going to have dump lots of money into it. Lord knows what is wrong with it. Run dont walk to the nearest exit. No lie for that price you can try and find a CPO S55 maybe if there are any left.

LOL...I thought he worked in the construction industry. This car is repaired/fixed by a Mercedes (Independent) mechanic shop I think http://jsbenz.net/
