02 s55 low idle

don't know if it is normal or not for my car to be idling at around 590 when it is in park or drive any suggestions or information to what mite be going on?

What do you mean exactly? It is idling high around 5900? It shouldn't be like that. Usually when the car is cold and you start it up, the rpm's go up, and after like 30 seconds go down and idle more smoothly. If yours is that high, it is possible something is wrong. Perhaps your pedal sensor is acting up, it happened to me once too.

like when it starts i know its supposed to idle higher like around 9 something or just before 1000 rpms but when it drops its is extremely low like in the 500 range

idle monitor use two inputs which is coolant sensor and throttle position sensor..

lets try the most easiest thing first.. try to remove intake nozzle and clean throttle body valve.. carbon deposit built up and it could make throttle sticky (you cannot tell because its electronic system) and clog air from coming intake..

i tried that and it seems a little better but still a little low im not sure where the idle range is supposed to be at but i recenty changed the air flow sensor too

I think my 600 is at the same idle after warm up.

i dont think anything is wrong with it i was just wondering if thats how it should be and when it is in d mode its in the 500 range

500 is not low and you want it to be low. I think my idle is even lower around 400-495.

I never heard of low idle being a problem. A problem is if your idle was at 1k rpms the whole time.

i wasnt to sure if thats where it should be idling at or not but from the sounds of it. it seems like that is a normal thing. what are some simple yet effective mods i can do to the car
