Wait for S55?

Wait for S55?
Curious on a couple points regarding the 2003 S55.
1) I remember the wait on the 2001 E55 was about a year or more. The new E55 seems to have a wait as well. Is there a waiting list for the S55? If so how long is typical?
2) I paid MSRP for my E55 (I refused to pay 10-20k over sticker for an M5!). Is that typical for an S55?
3) Any chance the 4-matic will come to the AMG version?
I'm considering moving up. With the supercharged engine the S class is now faster than my E55 which is almost inconceivable in a 4300 lb car.

I don't think there is a long wait for the CL55 or S55 anymore. Dealer near me has them sitting. Don't let them fool you into thinking that they are impossible to get. From the auctions on Ebay I don't think that the new E55 is really as hard to get either especially since many are waiting for the 2004 models with Navigation. Suggest you contact every possible dealer. Someone will work harder to get what you want at MSRP or better. Good Luck.

I saw an S55 on the floor of my dealer. Usually the doors are locked and they do not want you to go near it. This one had the windows down and unlocked just like any other model. It was for sale at sticker.
You should have good luck finding one at sticker just about anywhere.
Also, I don't think you are going to see a 4Matic version anytime soon. However, you can order an S500 4MATIC SPORT AND THEN SEND IT TO KLEEMAN FOR A QUICK BOOST.
Horsepower is pretty close to S55, I think.

Availability also depends on the dealership in your area. The one in my area has a waiting period for nearly every high end AMG model because they simply dont get the allocation that bigger dealers that sold high end cars in the past do.
Best bet watch the board for a couple of the dealers to show up offering MSRP or contact one outside your dealership area.
I doubt we'll see a 4Matic AMG car I doubt the tranny can take the stress test that MB would put it through.
