It finally arrived! 2003 S55AMG
I ordered the car in early January and picked it up yesterday. It looks longer and lower than my 2000 S500. I ordered Chesnut trim with Java interior. This almost gives the interior a "mood" of the interior of the old classic cars. Nice.....a great constrast with the black exterior.
Driving Impressions: It feels like a horse that wants to RUN. The feeling of an unbelievable amount of POWER is unmistakable. Coming off the line (keeping in mind the RPM and MPH restrictions), the exhaust tone is definitely lower and more sinister than my S500 and my ML55. Just tapping the accelerator gives INSTANEOUS response. What a rush.
Negatives: What a piece of crap for a radio! I am disappointed that the MB design staff has not made any improvements in the sound system since 2000. A Ford Pinto has a better sound system. The problem is poor design and inferior quality electronics and speakers. I will do the same for this car as I did with my S500. Keep the receiver and add Alpine power Amps and new speakers. A disappointment considering the 6 fiqure price of the car.
