S65 B Service--Am I Getting Hosed?
It's time for the scheduled B service on my '07 S65 with ~20k miles.
In addition to the B service for $575, they are also suggesting EFI cleaning ($190), power steering flush ($250) and brake fluid flush ($160).
Normally, I'd say just do it but it seems every time I bring in this car or a former one, they always suggest brake and power steering fluid flush. It seems like a crime to charge that much when I can take it almost anywhere for a fraction.
Thoughts?

Brake fluid I'd probably have them do. Its one of the most overlooked things. Then again, if you don't plan to keep the car long term, then it probably won't matter much.
EFI cleaning is a hosing. Get yourself two bottles of chevron techron concentrate, pour them in a near empty tank, fill up, and go beat on the car for a bit.
I wouldn't pay $575 for the service either.
If you can do this stuff yourself, you'll save a good bit of cash.

MB dealer pricing is always steep. I'd pass on the P/S fluid change but consider the brake fluid change. Whether the fluid is changed by an indie is your choice. As for the EFI cleaning, pass on the MB dealer version. If your engine is that low mileage, a couple cans of Techron will ensure success.

Must be a self-portrait... Paul on the S.S. K&N, trolling' for high priced foam rubber. Looks like you caught a whopper there, buddy. LOL Once caught Paul, do you dredge it through the bilge oil? All for fun, my friend.
I'm gonna have to break down and get a set for the S55 just so that I can see what all the ballyhoo is about. Then I'll put 'em on flea-bay... Low mileage, single owner, never driven in the rain, snow or sand storms. Cheap! Guaranteed to filter big bugs and small rodents.
