Just recently sold the S65 I loved for a 2012 ZL1 which is a great car. The Merc was faster in a straight line for sure. I will confirm this at the track on Friday which I estimate in the 12.0-12.2@117mph range. My car is an automatic and have no idea how it will launch.

Congrats show some pics when you have a chance. I see you didn't waste anytime tracking one down. As always its easier to buy something than sell. Good luck with it, but you should've got a 6 speed. hahah I'm sure you've heard and will continue to hear that forever.

Hot night with temps near 90 and muggy. 12.54@111 with a 1.92 60'. Felt like the S65 dragging an anchor. Lots of room for improvement. No desire to row gears as I have done that a few times.

interesting that a 580hp camaro would only do 12.5 I would have expected at least 12 flat or high 11s
Granted i did see your day temps and 90 is hot as hell. According to a test the auto does 11.93 with the stock tires as a overall best

I was underwhelmed but granted it only has 600ish miles too. The 11.93 was a track "perfect conditions" (supposedly -97ft DA) day with a broken in vehicle.

I am not sure it is an upgrade. I just wanted something different and more of a track car for running at VIR. I loved the S65 for sheer straightaway power/torque...nothing beats that. The guy I sold it to is in love with the torque...who can blame him?

12 ZL1
580hp
556tq
4120lbs (verrrry heavy for a sports car)
for comparison sake
06 S65
604hp
738tq
~5000lbs
although the S65 weights 25% more, it also has significantly more torque.... so its not surprising if they run similar times at the track.

a bunch of fast $h!t
Congrats on the new Camaro ! It supposedly really shines on a road course race track.
Bolt-ons will get it in the low 11.s on the strip with relative ease. Enjoy !!
