S55 AMG potential buyer
Hello, BenzWorld.
I am new to Mercedes so I wanted to ask a couple of question to hear the reviews of the 2003-2005 S55 AMG, I know every car has some flaws in design so I was just wondering if you can guys let me know what are the main problem areas with these cars and what should I check when buying one.
Thanks

I agree, this is a complex car. The ABC suspension can be costly but anything AMG equates to expensive. This is an amazing car to drive and if you are handy, the cost comes down. You will always forgive this car as soon you sit down behind the wheel.

The motor and tranny on the this platform are pretty stoutly built, the suspension on the other hand is the achilles heel for the S55 or anyother ABC equipped car for that matter. The pump will fail, especially if the car has been dealer maintained. Searching here, you will see that a good maintence suggestion is to change the fluid every 30K miles as well as the filters, rodeo, and change the filters one last time. Mercedes recommends only filter changes and rodeo. I also change my supercharger oil every 30k too, which Mercedes calls it a lifetime fluid (whatever that is).
