I am going to be the guinea pig on my CL which as you know has the same brake configuration as the S55. Check the part numbers please. I have already used them on my Legend series 2 and my NSX series 2; the brakes are still in service and RB has new patents since then! Why buy bimbo brakes when you can get a system engineered product at a group buy??

Just need to confirm some of the retaining screw holes to finalize the hat design, we are looking at about 6-8 weeks leadtime.

A pre-order discount will be announced a few weeks before they physically arrived.

Thanks for your interests.

Any ideas of where pricing will be around for these?

Unfortunately I'm on the opposite coast. Hey, that gives me an idea, they need an East coast satelite office don't they?

I'm assuming that they already have the design and don't need a mock up car right?

This is definitely a "Go" project. Design is done but just have to verify with some details like retaining screw hole locations etc.

Both front and rear rotors are now available for pre-order with a 4-6 weeks leadtime:

Excellent testimonial on the benefit of lighter rotors on ML63:

Wow, that's some serious coin. It will be interesting to hear how these work on our cars.

Any updates on this? I'd love to have a set of these as it appears Evosport has disappeared.

I feel that Warren is getting these "right the first time" so, even though I emailed accounting a week or so ago I feel sometime in June is a plausible delivery date. Once RB gets mine out they will be a "production" item therefore:

If I were you I would put an order in NOW.

PS
Unlike other companies that extract the cash up front when you order RB puts a "hold" on the funds but the money stays in your account! They take the payment when the order is shipped. RB actually has a dedicated, professional accounting person who is not involved in R&D.

Shipping order

Your order is shipping today:

Here are some assembly pictures showing the final production weight:

Front:

https://www.racingbrake.com/ProductD...oductCode=2268

OE 1 pc = 36.5 lbs
RB 2 pc = 24 lbs
Saving = 12.5 lbs (34%) or 25 lbs per front axle

Rear:

https://www.racingbrake.com/ProductD...oductCode=2269

OE 1 pc = 21.5 lbs
RB 2 pc = 15.2 lbs
Saving = 6.3 lbs (29.3%) per rotor or 12.6 lbs per rear axle

RB two piece rotors will save you a total of 37.6 lbs.

We'll deliver what we promised, and once we committed to making them they will sure be available in time.

Amazing!

PM sent.

BTW can you explain this to a layperson?

"NOTE: Retaining and jack screw holes might have been eliminated to prevent the screws from stripping and breaking, causing tremendous effort to remove and replace the rotors. Our two-piece rotor hats are made of aluminum which is easier for installation and removal. See detail view here."

Thanks Warren for meeting your delivery projection. Truly the mark of a robust firm that deserves Forum Member support!

Enroute

My front and rear RBs are on the UPS truck!

I understand that they have ample stock to fill orders immediately. Unlike other companies when they come out with a new product they do a production run. (It was the original design and build process that takes 4-6 weeks.) The brakes were ready exactly when Warren said they would be.

As far as my question above MB uses small mounting screws to center/hold on the hat but the hat is actually firmly fixed to the hub when the 5 wheel bolts are properly torqued to the hub. Rather than eliminate the MB screws they choose to retain this fixture. I am going to replace the screws with new OEM screws just for safety's sake although I understand that this may not be necessary depending on the condition of the screws. So much for the account of an enthusiast (me) not an expert.

If you have any questions call or email Alex, Customer Support, at RB.

These retaining screw holes are typically eliminated in some Honda models where the screws can get frozen to the hub, due to the rust build up and when they are being removed the Philip heads get stripped, thus make these stuck screws off the hub becomes a challenging and tedious task.

We understand that Mercedes owners are more peculiar to be exact to OE so we make those retaining screw holes are provided like OE, but still would recommend to add some thread agent when tightening these screw to prevent them from being frozen for next removal.
