S55 Fourm Owners Colors/Options

Curious about what color combos other forum members drive. If you have a white S55 with black interior you have a very rare color combo. I haven't seen very many blue ones either like the heavily modified one on here. Hopefully, we get some members to add here. The S55 forum has been really boring. How many S55 owners have parktronics, distronics, keyless go, trunk closer, rear air, cooled and heated rear seats all on the same car?

Had an 03 55 blk/blk everything but distronic, rear seat control/heat/climate.
Had 06 65 blk/blk all options except rear vent seat.

I would love to see a white ext black interior. Best combo to me!

I almost bought silver which (to me) arguably looks the best at night when the neon lights reflect off it. Like at a stop light. Silver also looks so expensive when clean.

Black just looks all out class and plain beast (but again it has to be clean and anyone with black knows is a chore) and you guys have some very nice options. I accidentally bought "obsidian black" on my 06 thinking I was getting black. When the back of the delivery truck opened up the sun was shining right on it and the metal flake was just gorgeous. In the sun or bright daytime it looks black metal flake but at night you can't tell it apart from the regular black. White and black is the killer combo. Whenever I see a white S55 (not often) I always check to see if the interior is black. So far I have only seen three.

So far,

Black on Black (I have seen a few black and tan but not too many...)

Obsidian Black on Black

Silver on Black

White on Black

Still hoping we get someone with something really unusual...

Most seem to be silver or black. Wonder how many Designo models they made?

I know! Lol I got lucky with this car and loving every bit of it. I would sometimes have my friends drive the car so that I can sit in the back and recline the seats. That I really appreciate. Lol

Flint gray, there we go... W220 S65, Yea that counts for sure...lol And, am I right the "ONLY" W220 S65s were the 2006? Making your car rarer than all of our S55s. I almost bought a loaded 2006 S65 white/black that looked brand new but it had 138k miles and priced way up there so I went with the S55.

I thought there were a few 05's, and the first few had a lower specific hp and tq number, but I am no expert. Love the car though. Ran an 11.5 on street tires the other day, first run this year!

That white black one was the AMS car, right? I am glad they got swamped with E63 biturbo s, but kinda sad they didn't start making 1500 hp kits for the s65...

It is a dark metallic red that has just a hint of brown. Mercedes had a very similar color in earlier years that I believe was called Claret. That color was similar but had a bit of purple undertone rather than the brown.

'06 S55, Flint Grey over Black, Chestnut wood (orange-ish color), 19" 2-piece forged AMG wheels, rear A/C and seating package (heat, cool, recline), and best of all none of the other electronic gizmos to ruin it (IMO).

Ruin it....??? You dont like keyless go? How about distronics? Parktronics? Not even the auto trunk opener and closer? Alrighty then... each his own. I would much rather have them then not.

Experience tells that these first and second generation "cheap" electronic gizmos are the ones that fail in various and unpredictable ways, becoming nightmares for the owners and their mechanics. Expensive nightmares at that. I say "cheap" because they don't have the decades of R&D budgets in tow, as do the engines, trans and suspension systems. Of course, they are definitely NOT cheap to diagnose and repair or replace. Only in current models would I venture toward keyless go and distronic (although I think the keyless go systems are the reasons thieves can now access cars with "black boxes"). Parktronic I have on other cars, and I can live with or without it. I can open and close my own trunk. When I get 80 years old (God willing), maybe then a push button trunk makes some sense. But for now and for this car, I'm happy not to have them -- fewer things to spend time, gray matter and money on. Good old fashioned high performing mechanicals for me, thank you very much.

Cheers,

maw

You're a strang fella for sure...lol Nightmares, gizmos, cheap, unpredictable, decades of R&D budgets in tow, black boxes, gray matter etc etc...

Have you never had your wife or someone carrying something to the car while you were in it and hit the open trunk button for them? You really like taking your keys out of your pocket every time you start the car. It's not convient to know when you are backing up or parking how close your getting? Distronic is such a pleasure on a long drive with cruz control on. I dont know who works on your cars but it's pretty easy to figure out why something isnt working if it breaks. It's not the end of the world... I certainly wouldnt go without these features just because I was worried I would have a nightmare.

Like I said each his own...

I've got a 2002 S55KL AMG- rear electric heated and cooled seats, front heated cooled and massage seats, 4 way climate control with tv, distronic, keyless go, distronic and parktronic... Although the colour schemes abit generic- brilliant silver exterior with a sort of mushroom looking leather interior...!
